  • Joel Osteen Returns to Yankee Stadium Aug. 7th

The very successful Joel Osteen will return to Yankee stadium for the first time in years. It is said he is the wealthiest prosperity gospel preacher in the world.

I wish Osteen would attend one of Pastor Zeke's sermons so he could learn how to do properly the prosperity gospel. Osteen hits hard on "You can be rich. Jesus wants you to be rich, etc etc." But he skips over sin. He doesn't condemn homers, trans or interracial marriage. Pastor Zeke leans in hard on these sins. He gets standing ovations.

I would advise people in Freehold not to attend the Yankee Stadium event unless you receive assurances Osteen will condemn sin.

Joel Osteen talks a lot but whatever he says never seems to be about the Bible.

It's "money this" and "new car that", never "worship this" or "Jericho that".

Yes, this is all so very true, dear Brother Mayor Hold and Unfalsifiable. Goodness knows that the emphasis with Joel's preaching seems to be more on material comforts than it is on repenting from sin. I mean, how much comfort will his viewers have when they are burning in for all of eternity? It's not like their wall-to-wall mink carpeting is going to provide much satisfaction then! As for Mr. Osteen's wealth, well, I only hope that the good is pleased with the credit He is given!

The sodomite Osteen is more of a self-help guru than a televangelist. Think Tony Robbins, not Kenneth Copeland. Does this guy even cite scripture? Does he talk about Jesus? From what I've heard, it's all just a bunch of secular "believe in yourself and think positive" kind of bullcrap.
I was sinking deep in sin far from the peaceful shore,
        Very deeply stained within, sinking to rise no more;
But the Master of the Sea heard my despairing cry,
From the waters lifted me, now safe am I!

Yes, indeed, dear Brother Lukes. And, we've heard this sort of sickening slop from so many other "inspirational" speakers, such as you shall see in the attached photo. Those people might think they represent the , but we all know what Almighty will say to them on the Day of Judgment — and that includes the ostentatious Joel Osteen!

          Matthew 7:21-23:
21 Not every one that saith unto me, , , shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
22 Many will say to me in that day, , , have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

That's a fair assessment, Brother Lukes, but we cannot deny that the prosperity gospel works. Spiritual luminaries such as Olsteen, Copland, Hinn, Winfrey, even Crespo Dollar (*spit*), are showered in riches. And the flood of money upwards empowers our earthly leaders to trickle wealth down onto where it's needed most: lightly scheduled motivational speaking tours by leadership and Presidential golf course upgrades.

I understand the Bible makes oblique reference to the corrupting influence of earthly treasures, but I see it as just another cross we bear in service of Christ. Imagine the spiritual burden Donald J. Trump carries by holding onto massive, massive wealth. Amen.
If I have seen further, it is by standing on the heads of others.

We have to be cautious here about criticizing wealth accumulated by Pastor Zeke and his colleagues in the prosperity gospel field. The important issue is not how much pastors have taken for themselves but how much those who pledged money have themselves prospered. Sunday mornings in Landover Baptist we can see people in the pews who gave until it hurt and were rewarded with God's blessings. Often the blessings are in the form of many children who will in turn bless their parents with shared gifts. Other times it is financial success that awaits just around the next corner of life. Regardless the individual story, giving provides bountiful returns.

Bless you Brother Mayor for raising this delicate issue. Critics such as the guy in this video only look at the financial side - the private jets, custom Rolls Royces, etc. - but God considers the full package. What price, for example, can you put on Benny Hinn pushing someone over? It's way more than the $825 Balenciagas that you can see.

Regardless the individual story, giving provides bountiful returns.
Giving 10% once a week, or murmuring a few Amens is just the minimum. Someone like Copland wants your soul, he wants to drive you like his personal Rolls Royce, he wants you obsessed for Jesus every waking moment serving His representatives.

Amen. The more Pastor Ezekiel prospers, the more WE prosper. That's one reason it's so important for us to plant our seeds of faith and buy Pastor Zeke his Airbus jet!

I'm encouraged by those who REALLY read the Bible and conclude Jesus does want we who are True Christians™ to be prosperous. It's right there in scripture.
