Message to those workers fired over Zoom

Better.com CEO fires 900 employees over Zoom

Better.com CEO Vishal Garg announced the mortgage company is laying off 9% of its workforce on a Zoom webinar Wednesday abruptly informing more than 900 employees on the call they were being terminated just before the holidays. "If you're on this call, you are part of the unlucky group that is being laid off"
Chin up. Treat this as the wake up call you need. Take a look at yourself - it's pathetic. When I was young I would work for free. Because I'm a hard worker with a relentless work ethic. I work for fun! So stop making it about yourself.

Did know at least 25% of people work an average of 2 hours a day while clocking 8 hrs in the payroll system? They are stealing from you and stealing from the customers who pay the bills that pay your bills. People like that get terminated. I've terminated people before - it's not pretty:

"You are TOO DAMN SLOW. You are a bunch of DUMB DOLPHINS... STOP IT. STOP IT. STOP IT RIGHT NOW. YOU ARE EMBARRASSING ME"

Stop being a thief. Stop being unemployed. Get an action plan . Follow it.
If I have seen further, it is by standing on the heads of others.

It seems to me he was just too nice. He should have insulted them and made them more resolved to work harder.

And, he said he appreciated their time with the company. They got paid, they don't need to be appreciated. Nevertheless, he did the right thing by dumping them and making his company's stock price go up.
Isaiah 24:1-3 Behold, the LORD maketh the earth empty (2)...as the taker of usury, so with the giver of usury to him. (3) The land shall be utterly emptied, and utterly spoiled: for the LORD hath spoken his word.

Or better still, he should have insulted them to the point where they quit and walked out on the spot. This is my husband's preferred method - he points out that it avoids the need to pay unmotivated personnel during any contractual notice period.

This isn't news you are going to want to hear but ultimately it was my decision and I wanted you to hear it from me. It has been a really challenging decision to make, this is the second time in my career that I am doing this and I do not want to do this. The last time I did it I cried, this time I hope to be stronger.
I hope the Better.com CEO is able to emotionally recover from the trauma of deciding to fire all those people. Some people underestimate how stressful terminating people can be. Right around the holidays too.

Hopefully doing it over zoom helped alleviate some of that stress so he didn't have to hear all the whining in person "How am I going to feed my family?" "I have a mortgage to pay" bla bla bla. He has better things to do than fire people in person individually and listen to that.
Close minded people are just right people who don't want to spend time arguing.

Imagine 600 one to one consultations; how much CORONA would have spread? How much ENERGY wasted? Let alone the paid time that this CEO has saved.

          Ultimately management isn't easy.

Thank you for your insight, friend. My father thought so too when he gave me the responsibility to take over the family business. Selling it was a tough decision that showed me I had the ability to do what it takes. It's not about the CORONA or terminating humans, necessarily, it's about stepping up to do what it takes.

He took the time to fire them IN PERSON via webcam, and they still bitch and moan. Granted, the better option for the shareholders would have been to fire them via email and use the time saved to do something productive, like looking for more employees to fire.

              Very deeply stained within, sinking to rise no more;

From the waters lifted me, now safe am I!

There's always an opportunity for migration to places that haven't invented machines and therefore require 100 people to do the work of one skilled operator with one machine. Simply visit their local office and request a visa, too easy! There will be plenty of work, especially since so many of them attempt emigration without visas (it's always been a prompt service and many offer a while-you-wait facility) but then when you get where you're going ..well ..you don't have a visa, do you?

Not everywhere has the same requirements so it's worth looking around first. Where visa on arrival is an option, clearly there'd be no problem just turning up. But remember, contravening visa laws makes you a criminal and where there are no machines there are usually guns. Or if not, spears. Both equally effective and a point to bear in mind before leaving.

Africa? No, that country has a 99% unemployment rate, a 50% AIDS rate, and a 25% annual homicide rate. Also, no money, no food, no electricity, no cars, no Internet. It would be like stepping into the Antediluvian Period.

There are a few imported machines - English Rolls-Royces and German white goods, quite possibly probably I think there are some that aren't gold plated but they’d have no need of manual or unskilled workers at a 100:1 ratio to perform mundane tasks. I've heard there are opportunities in Nigeria, for only a small up-front fee (but have never been approached myself – it's invitation only) and demand for personal services remains buoyant but that's more north of the Sahara. Unfortunately following the forced ending of indentured accommodation in Algeria when you might have expected a housing boom, there was an oversupply of unskilled farmhands (all the landowners just bought American tractors) so that sector is pretty well catered.

On the other hand, those people who have to walk ten miles across the arid zone twice a day to get a bucket of water could do with some more hands on deck. It's empty, barren and boiling hot, 120˚F in the shade (if there were any trees) mid-winder so an opening I'd have thought to build mud huts only five miles from the well sorry, they haven't invented wells have they? waterhole or creek bed then, and with the severance package there'd be a chance to clean up.

I've been promised a lovely hand-operated generator for Christmas, emergency use, but with a larger model there'd even be an investment window for air conditioners! That would soak up some idle hands otherwise vulnerable to commie propaganda. I will donate to the Bibles For Africa mission in anticipation —— because what they really need (on both sides of this equation) is Jesus.

                      Hi all.

I do not understand why you would want to use Zoom to fire people. In person would be a lot easier with less risk.

Those Zoom calls are full of masturbating Toobins and other degenerates. Besides that saying bye on friendly terms with a warm handshake seems better to me.
Jeremiah 6:21 Therefore thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will lay stumblingblocks before this people, and the fathers and the sons together shall fall upon them; the neighbour and his friend shall perish.

I don't use "zoom" but occasionally listen to "pods" with the screen turned off. It's much better that way, almost like a radio. Do you enjoy radio plays? Some of the big production stuff? I don't mean those dismal scripts for one person going on and on about something depressing, such as Iranian poetry or driving along in a locked car with a hitchhiker explaining why you're both going to be inside when he drives over a cliff/into a stone wall/presses the button and blows the thing up. Should have happened on page one if you ask me.

Have you ever fired someone? I'm guessing you're not a job creator like me, but maybe you've been on the other end, that is if you've ever been employed. When you give them a pink slip (or "an apple and a road map" as my father used to say) they're apt to curse at you in that horrid Mexican language they speak before ICE hauls them off your motel property. There's certainly nothing warm or friendly about it, just rudeness and ingratitude.

Weren't they all dots? There are a billion more I imagine. You know how they are!
Isaiah 45:7 I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things.
Amos 3:6 Shall a trumpet be blown in the city, and the people not be afraid? shall there be evil in a city, and the LORD hath not done it?
Numbers 21:6 And the LORD sent fiery serpents among the people, and they bit the people; and much people of Israel died.
Matthew 10:34 Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.
Matthew 10:35 For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.
Matthew 10:36 And a man's foes shall be they of his own household.
