Everyone likes a mystery, how else do we account for the success of “Murder She Wrote”? God knows this and Himself has mysteries. Here, I will examine some of them. So please crack open your KJV 1611 and follow me in this.
The first mystery is when Jesus spends 40 days and 40 nights in the wilderness. Mark 1:12-13, Matthew 4:1-11 and Luke 4:1-13. Who was recording this? I ask you to consider this deeply; Mark's Gospel was the first to be written, yet the others record details about this scene that he does not. So the big mystery is that although Jesus did not choose his disciples until after the temptation had occurred, more than one person was there, in the wilderness and within earshot, to record all this that we might know the full Glory of His Life on Earth and learn more about our Savior.
The second mystery is in Matthew 27:62 - 66. Here we see that the chief priests and Pharisees went to Pilate in secret. They asked him have the tomb guarded to prevent the Christians from stealing Jesus’ body. Again, who wrote all this down? Is there a spy?
The third mystery is in Mark from 14:32 on, Matthew 26:38 on and Luke 22:41 on. The night before Jesus was arrested and crucified, He considers the enormity of the prophecies that have come to pass. He goes to pray in the garden at Gethsemane. Peter, James and John accompany Him. They are there to watch over him. Jesus goes off and prays at a stone’s throw from them – but we know his actual words were recorded. He returns to find the three disciples asleep. This happens three times, and then, in fulfillment of the prophecies, Judas comes and Jewish soldiers to arrest Him. So who was there listening in on Jesus’ prayers?
The fourth mystery is the collusion of the priests and guards. In Matthew 28:11-15, after the resurrection, the priests bribed the guards to say the disciples had stolen his body. We are privileged to see a description yet we know none of Jesus' followers were there. Who knew this?
The fifth mystery is in Matthew 27:19. We can actually read of a private message Pilate's wife sent to him. M't:27:19: When he was set down on the judgment seat, his wife sent unto him, saying, Have thou nothing to do with that just man: for I have suffered many things this day in a dream because of him. It is as if we were there! But who was???
The sixth mystery is in Matthew 27:3-8 describes how Judas returned his blood money to the priests and then hanged himself out of guilt. How did anyone find out about this meeting between Judas and the priests? He could not tell anyone as he was dead and the priests were unlikely to tell about the evil plot!
The seventh mystery is in Luke 7:37-39. Miraculously, we are told what a Pharisee was thinking. Did that Pharisee tell someone else? Whom?
Who was there to record any of these? It must have been God The Father because we know it is true.
