  • Matthew 5:43

    43*Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy.

    44*But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;

    45*That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.

    46*For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same?

    47*And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not even the publicans so?

    48*Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.

    Amen, friend, that is one fine selection of Bible verses in a book bursting at the seams with them.

    I especially like how Matthew 5:48 explicitly points out that followers of The Lamb are perfect. There was some Messican yahoo on here the other day claiming that True Christians(tm) weren't even good, and here it says plain as day that we're PERFECT!!!

      Amen! We True Christians™ ARE Perfect!
      We are the very Spitting Image of our Lord Christ Jesus! Glory!
      Why, when He sees us, He sees Himself!

      Let us bless the enemy with sharing the Good News that Jesus Christ, King of Kings, is going to send every single person on Earth who doesn't believe in Him straight to Hell! Let them decide to accept or reject the Glorious Gift of Redemption, and the responsibilities that go with it (such as genuine belief; John 3:18, and obedience; John 14:23).

      Glory!
      Hello, my name is Mary. I hope to fellowship with you! That is, unless you don't listen to church authority (Deuteronomy 17:12); are a witch (Exodus 22:17); are a homosexual (Leviticus 20:13; Romans 1:24-32); or fortuneteller (Leviticus 20:27) or a snotty kid who hits their dad (Exodus 21:15); or curses their parents (Proverbs 20:20; Leviticus 20:9); an adulterer (Leviticus 20:10); a non-Christian (Exodus 22:19; Deuteronomy 13:7-12; Deuteronomy 17:2-5;Romans 1:24-32); an atheist (2 Chronicles 15:12-13); or false prophet (Zechariah 13:3); from the town of one who worships another, false god (Deuteronomy 13:13-19); were a non-virgin bride (Deuteronomy 22:20-21); or blasphemer (Leviticus 24:10-16), as God calls for your execution and will no doubt send you to Hell, and I have no interest developing a friendship with the Spiritually Walking Dead.

        YES!!!

        And what is a better way to show your LOVE than with a beating rod:

        Proverbs 13:24 He that spareth his rod hateth his son: but he that loveth him chasteneth him betimes.

        Praise !

        God created fossils to test our faith.

          Actually it says "Be ye therefore perfect" not "therefore ye be perfect". I'm sorry if you are dyslexic, but that doesn't mean Christians are perfect, it means God is perfect and we should be like God. In fact Romans states:

          10*As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:

          11*There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God.

          12*They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.

          13*Their throat is an open sepulchre; with their tongues they have used deceit; the poison of asps is under their lips:

          14*Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness:

          15*Their feet are swift to shed blood:

          16*Destruction and misery are in their ways:

          17*And the way of peace have they not known:

          18*There is no fear of God before their eyes.

          19*Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God.

          20*Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.

          21*But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets;

          22*Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference:

          23*For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

          24*Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:

          25*Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;

          26*To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.

          27*Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay: but by the law of faith.

          28*Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.

          29*Is he the God of the Jews only? is he not also of the Gentiles? Yes, of the Gentiles also:

          30*Seeing it is one God, which shall justify the circumcision by faith, and uncircumcision through faith.

          31*Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid: yea, we establish the law.

            You're confused. True Christians™ aren't perfect because of one line in the Holy Bible. That would be silly.

            True Christians™ are perfect because we have been made into new creatures (2 Corinthians 5:17), born of incorruptible seed (1 Peter 1:23), impervious to sin (1st John 3:6-9), and untouchable to the Adversary (1st John 5:18). Please don't confuse your ongoing temptations with faith in Christ. It doesn't work that way. If you have been truly Saved™, you would find it easy to keep his commands and avoid temptation (1 John 5:3). You know, Landover Baptist Church is the only church in the world that guarantees True Salvation™. You might consider contacting the main office and seeing what kind of tithing agreement you can come up with to ensure your eternal soul does not suffer for ever and ever.
