    Hello friend!

Please try to watch the foul language...we have families here who allow their children to read these forums.

Now: how about scooting over to the Introduction Forum and starting a thread of your own telling us all about your walk with Jesus: we want to get to know you!

    Yours in Christ,

Why should he feel bad? All he's doing is following the Word of God literally as all of us here do.

Do you have a problem with that?

By the way in the old days before God instructed us to follow secular law your friend would have been killed for his transgression against his father.

      Exodus 21:15

And he that smiteth his father, or his mother, shall bee surely put to deathAnd he that smiteth his father, or his mother, shall bee surely put to death
      Isaiah 66:15

For behold, the Lord wil come with fire, and with his charets like a whirlewinde, to render his anger with furie, and his rebuke with flames of fire.

Hello, and welcome to our friendly forums! I'm so glad you came here to join us in praising the ! He is wonderful indeed!

You seem to be just a bit confused, though, if you don't mind my being so straight forward. You see, no True Christian™ would beat a child out of anger or lack of self-discipline. No True Christian(tm) would beat a child due to unrestrained violent impulses, or under the influence of alcohol or too much praise music.

There is no negative emotion associated with Godly discipline, but only a positive, forward-thinking love. This is True Christian™ charity at its best - to guide a young sinner on the path of Righteousness!

This requires diligent attention on the part of the loving parent, because if we don't chastise our children appropriately, the LORD Himself will do so. If we don't do it in time (the cut-off being the moment of death or the Triumphant return of Jesus, a moment we can never anticipate enough), the LORD will do it ... for eternity.

Perhaps you can see the challenge we have ahead of us. On the one hand, the world tells our children masturbation is fine. It's fun. It's good for you, even. They're told not to be shy with learning how their bodies work, how to please their sexual partner, how to enjoy the physical sensations that come with the natural procreative act. On the other hand, we have the Truth(c) that this act, like all things, is overseen by the LORD Himself, and the LORD Himself does NOT want to see your "O" face, as the kids say. He doesn't want to see you grunt and groan and wriggle and writhe and sweat and squirm. He doesn't care about the release of dopamines, even if they do contribute to your emotional health and well-being. He only cares if there is a fertilized egg there to quickly and mysteriously plop in an eternal soul. If not, well, you're wasting His Precious Time to watch you do all kinds of rather disgusting things to yourself. Now, that's not very nice to do to the God who Sacrificed Himself temporarily for your sake, is it?

Should I beat them more often or is there a better way to make them understand?
Wow, I'm sure it's a lot easier beating children then raising them. Does it make you feel powerful knowing that you can physically dominate your own child who looks to you as a role model? Maybe you should talk to them. Beating them doesn't make them respect you, it makes them fear you and nothing more. You're a bully, and when you are judged by the Lord, he will make this point very clear with his wrath. I'll pray for you and your children who you victimize.

Wait, let me see if I understand. You're suggesting that when Brother Alex meets Jesus face to face, and he is judged for following the Word of God, God will be mad? Why do you think God commands us to do certain things if He doesn't want us to do them? Are you assuming God schizophrenic or something?

Proverbs 13:24 - He that spareth his rod hateth his son: but he that loveth him chasteneth him betimes.

Proverbs 19:18 - Chasten thy son while there is hope, and let not thy soul spare for his crying.

Proverbs 22:6 - Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.

Proverbs 22:15 - Foolishness is bound in the heart of a child; but the rod of correction shall drive it far from him.

Proverbs 23:13 - Withhold not correction from the child: for if thou beatest him with the rod, he shall not die.

Proverbs 23:14 - Thou shalt beat him with the rod, and shalt deliver his soul from hell.

Proverbs 29:15 - The rod and reproof give wisdom: but a child left to himself bringeth his mother to shame.

The Holy Bible is very clear on the necessity of discipline. You know of course that the LORD has placed a price on our children's sin that our children can never pay except by death. (Romans 6:23) You also know the loophole the Loving God has provided is faith in Christ Jesus. (John 3:18) For this reason, teaching a child to be obedient to the parent is the only way to teach him to be sufficiently obedient unto the LORD.

God is, of course, in authority of everything in creation, and our role as Christians is to submit to this authority, specifically in fear and obedience (Ecclesiastes 12:13):

Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come
                    Ephesians 1:21

And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.
                    Matthew 28:18

Who is gone into heaven, and is on the right hand of God; angels and authorities and powers being made subject unto him.
                    1 Peter 3:22

Children are given specific instruction to follow, and it is our calling as parents to instruct them in following these instructions.

Children, obey your parents in all things: for this is well pleasing unto the Lord.
                    Colossians 3:20

Honour thy father and thy mother, as the LORD thy God hath commanded thee; that thy days may be prolonged, and that it may go well with thee, in the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.
                    Deuteronomy 5:16

Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right.
                    Ephesians 6:1

My son, keep thy father's commandment, and forsake not the law of thy mother
                    Proverbs 6:20

Out of curiosity, are you a parent yourself, dear? Do you have any children?

                      Ok, so I was wrong; it does say that. Perhaps what it means is this: A refusal to correct is a refusal to love;
love your children by disciplining them.
I work with kids a lot, and it is difficult for me to think that beating a child is more appropriate than speaking with him or her. I've seen the consequences of such actions (domestic violence, insecurity, rage) I'm honestly really confused right now. What should I do?

Perhaps. And perhaps when the Bible says that homosexuals, witches, disobedient children, non-virgin brides who have been paid for, and those who follow others religions (or none) should all be killed (usually by stoning, but sometimes by fire) it really means whatever you want to pull out of your ass.

But I wouldn't count on it.

Your weak point needs no countering because any realistic individual can see how faulty your logic is, and to debate it would be a counter-productive waste of key strokes. But don't feel bad about being mentally insufficient, thats just the soup you swim in.
