We are certain the Earth is the center. There is some debate about the shape of the Earth. It was clearly flat when God created it, but there are some who think God changed the shape of the earth to allow Columbus to discover America instead of falling of the edge.

If the earth is round it would be daylight all the time because of gravitational lensing. The fact that we have a night proves it is flat. As far as your airplane flight theory goes it is well known that pilots use a map of a flat earth.

Anyway, what does this have to do with us not practicing God's Holy Word as intended?

Do you notice that as objects are further away, they become smaller and smaller? If an object is hundreds of miles away, it's only a little dot. So of course we can't see to the end of the world: it's so far away, it's too small for the resolution of our eye to detect.

Also: we do not live in a vacuum but in air: there is some attenuation due to the medium we look through (air). That's why a collection of maintains have different shades.
