Exodus 7-9
Today we get.
"The plague, the plague," said Hervé Villechaize.
Exodus 7
2 Thou shalt speak all that I command thee: and Aaron thy brother shall speak unto Pharaoh, that he send the children of Israel out of his land.
Good, this shouldn't take very long. When God wants to do something, He does it quickly.
3 And I will harden Pharaoh's heart, and multiply my signs and my wonders in the land of Egypt.
Unless He's taking His time to show how mighty He is. Then He goes at His own pace.
10 And Moses and Aaron went in unto Pharaoh, and they did so as the LORD had commanded: and Aaron cast down his rod before Pharaoh, and before his servants, and it became a serpent.
Pharaoh tells his magicians to throw down their rods, and Aaron's rod eats the other rods.
13 And he hardened Pharaoh's heart, that he hearkened not unto them; as the LORD had said.
Now begins the plagues.
#1. Rivers turned to blood.
17 Thus saith the LORD, In this thou shalt know that I am the LORD: behold, I will smite with the rod that is in mine hand upon the waters which are in the river, and they shall be turned to blood.
This killed all the fish. It by no means had anything to do with Plague #2.
Exodus 8
#2. Frogs.
2 And if thou refuse to let them go, behold, I will smite all thy borders with frogs:
The frogs that were everywhere in Egypt, BY NO MEANS had anything to do with the fact that they couldn't live in the water anymore, due to it being blood.
After this plague, Pharaoh decided to let the children of Israel go, then he (or God) changed his mind.
#3. Lice.
16 And the LORD said unto Moses, Say unto Aaron, Stretch out thy rod, and smite the dust of the land, that it may become lice throughout all the land of Egypt.
The plague of lice, BY NO MEANS had anything to do with the fact that the people couldn't take baths in the bloody river.
#4. Flies.
21 Else, if thou wilt not let my people go, behold, I will send swarms of flies upon thee, and upon thy servants, and upon thy people, and into thy houses: and the houses of the Egyptians shall be full of swarms of flies, and also the ground whereon they are.
The flies had NOTHING to do with the piles of dead frogs that were everywhere in Egypt.
After this plague, Pharaoh decided to let the children of Israel go, then God hardened his heart.
Exodus 9.
#5. Disease on livestock.
3 Behold, the hand of the LORD is upon thy cattle which is in the field, upon the horses, upon the asses, upon the camels, upon the oxen, and upon the sheep: there shall be a very grievous murrain.
This wasn't caused by the lice. (West Nile?)
#6. Boils
9 And it shall become small dust in all the land of Egypt, and shall be a boil breaking forth with blains upon man, and upon beast, throughout all the land of Egypt.
A separate plague, NOT caused by the lice.
#7. Hail mixed with fire.
23 And Moses stretched forth his rod toward heaven: and the LORD sent thunder and hail, and the fire ran along upon the ground; and the LORD rained hail upon the land of Egypt.
Friends, some people believe that Plague 1 was a mudslide and plague 7 was a volcano eruption.
WE KNOW, that God did it, as all separate events.
Once again, Pharaoh decides to let the people go, and once again, God hardens Pharaoh's heart.
35 And the heart of Pharaoh was hardened, neither would he let the children of Israel go; as the LORD had spoken by Moses.
Thus ends day 19.
Today we learned the first 7 of the 10 plagues of Egypt.
