10For Moses said, Honour thy father and thy mother; and, Whoso curseth father or mother, let him die the death:

11But ye say, If a man shall say to his father or mother, It is Corban, that is to say, a gift, by whatsoever thou mightest be profited by me; he shall be free.

12And ye suffer him no more to do ought for his father or his mother;

13Making the word of God of none effect through your tradition, which ye have delivered: and many such like things do ye.

I love this verse because it transcends time. Just as Jesus condemns the liberal kikes for refusing to enforce His eternal laws, he also reaches across the milennia to pimp-slap modern day "Christians" who claim that those laws are no longer relevant or that the God of the Old Testament and the God of the New Testament have nothing in common.

Jesus is telling all of us that He has never changed nor will He ever: God was and is an endlessly jealous, vengeful, loving, compassionate, and all-powerful Creator. Praise Him.

That's a beautiful passage of scripture, Sister Templeton.

I can think of no better way to separate the True™ from the False Christian than by applying "Mark's 7-Inch Razor." "Do you make the word of God of none effect through your tradition?" If so, verily you are a False Christian, and God shall cut you as a boil from the Body of Christ.

Jesus's point was not that disobedient children should be stoned. His point was that the Pharisees and rabbis who accused him of modifying Old Testament law themselves were hypocrites who themselves modified Old Testament law. This is quite clear from Mark 7:15, in which Jesus says, in defense of his disciples who did not wash their hands before eating,

There is nothing from without a man, that entering into him can defile him: but the things which come out of him, those are they that defile the man.

This is a direct abrogation of Old Testament law.

We see confirmation that Jesus does not believe in capital punishment in John 8:3-13, in which he refused to stone the adulterous woman, but rather released her with the command to "sin no more."

So I am glad to hear that Mark 7 is one of your favorite passages in the Bible, as it is 100% against capital punishment. However, I do recommend that you wash your hands before each meal.

Added to this, if Jesus had avoided the Death Sentence, and there's no denying that he could have done, none of us would have been Saved would we? I studied plenty of Bible that didn't deal in bunnies. And Koran, and Sutras, and Vedas, and a great deal more, besides. I liked the writings of Baha'u'allah the best, but there is wisdom to be found in all.

But He doesn't advise inflicting them, either. Matthew 10 deals with killings that will be inflicted upon Christians for their beliefs, not suggestions for Christians to follow, and you well know it. I, too, believe there are things worth dying for, but that does not give me the right to make others die for their different beliefs.

I might quibble with you on the specifics, but I have no doubt that, through His death, Jesus brought spiritual enlightenment to the world. But one death was enough:

You know there’s that Papist Mr Martin, who comes around from time to time and protests that verses are taken out of context. He may never have read KJV1611 in his life but, his protest, though inaccurate as far as Landover goes, is remarkably applicable to you.

Did you bother reading all of Romans 10 or did you fall asleep in that lesson? Indeed, there are no bunnies in that Chapter. There is a stark choice. For here we have Paul speaking of the Joos. Paul is saying, “Don’t give up on them, they may yet be converted and surprise us all. Thus some might go to heaven and some to hell and only Christ will judge.” (Indeed they might, and I wish they were, but it has taken an inordinate amount of time so far without any great effect.).”

This being the case, and I think Paul knew he was being optimistic in the short term, as he goes on to say,
Ro:10:16: But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Esaias saith, Lord, who hath believed our report?
Ro:10:17: So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
Ro:10:18: But I say, Have they not heard? Yes verily, their sound went into all the earth, and their words unto the ends of the world.
Ro:10:19: But I say, Did not Israel know? First Moses saith, I will provoke you to jealousy by them that are no people, and by a foolish nation I will anger you.
Ro:10:20: But Esaias is very bold, and saith, I was found of them that sought me not; I was made manifest unto them that asked not after me.
Ro:10:21: But to Israel he saith, All day long I have stretched forth my hands unto a disobedient and gainsaying people.

Now we have his true meaning; we too should be optimistic but those joos who do not convert are on the down elevator.

So unless you are saying that you have converted to True Christianity™ my suggestion is that if you want someone to speak to in the afterlife, start learning Hebrew.

I read the whole thing. Many times. The reason I quoted form this chapter isn't that I approve of all of its contents. In fact, there is much in the writings of Paul that I find reprehensible, and the antisemitism in Romans 10 takes pride of place in that parade. I only quoted Romans 10 to show that you, who claim to follow the whole Bible, should not be thinking about who is going to go to Hell and who to Heaven, a rule that you seem to break with virtually every post you make in this thread.

So it is your hypocrisy, not my approval of Paul's prejudice, that led me to that verse. But please, if I am wrong about Romans 10:6, explain to me how you apply its lesson in your life as a True Christian™.

I'd stop to point out all of the parts of Ba'hai scripture that wouldn't neatly fit into your "everything is beautiful" Unitarianism, but I have bigger fish to fry than the Ba'hai, and they'll have plenty of time to fry without my assistance once they're in Hell.

Wherefore, behold, I send unto you prophets, and wise men, and scribes: and some of them ye shall kill and crucify; and some of them shall ye scourge in your synagogues, and persecute them from city to city: That upon you may come all the righteous blood shed upon the earth, from the blood of righteous Abel unto the blood of Zacharias son of Barachias, whom ye slew between the temple and the altar.
