In the book of Numbers, we read of a man who was found gathering firewood on the Sabbath - and that's more serious than you think. He went to trial.

This video is an account of the trial, and of the amazing judgement that God Almighty (the creator of the universe) Himself handed down for this crime.

Exodus
16:29 See, for that the LORD hath given you the sabbath, therefore he giveth you on the sixth day the bread of two days; abide ye every man in his place, let no man go out of his place on the seventh day.

31:14 Ye shall keep the sabbath therefore; for it is holy unto you: every one that defileth it shall surely be put to death: for whosoever doeth any work therein, that soul shall be cut off from among his people.

31:15 Six days may work be done; but in the seventh is the sabbath of rest, holy to the LORD: whosoever doeth any work in the sabbath day, he shall surely be put to death.

31:18 And he gave unto Moses, when he had made an end of communing with him upon mount Sinai, two tables of testimony, tables of stone, written with the finger of God.

It looks like GOD made his point VERY CLEAR!

The day is Holy, don't leave the house, don't do any work or you will DIE!

I think there may be two problems that the Unsaved Trash may have here:

1. The accused, who seems to have the Devil in charge of his tongue, could be seen as a sympathetic character. And

2. Although I know that it is asking a lot for such life-forms to have read the Bible, they might recall and

M'r:2:23: And it came to pass, that he went through the corn fields on the sabbath day; and his disciples began, as they went, to pluck the ears of corn.
M'r:2:24: And the Pharisees said unto him, Behold, why do they on the sabbath day that which is not lawful?
M'r:2:25: And he said unto them, Have ye never read what David did, when he had need, and was an hungred, he, and they that were with him?
M'r:2:26: How he went into the house of God in the days of Abiathar the high priest, and did eat the shewbread, which is not lawful to eat but for the priests, and gave also to them which were with him?
M'r:2:27: And he said unto them, The sabbath was made for man, and not man for the sabbath:
M'r:2:28: Therefore the Son of man is Lord also of the sabbath.

So, taking these points in order, we must ask ourselves, in the first instance,
“Q: How do we know that the sinner is not a dealer in firewood continuing his trade on the Sabbath?”
“A: God knows these things and the judge heard God’s judgment.” Furthermore, “Sticks are for fire. Creating a fire indisputably requires work and facilitates work (e.g. cooking) thereafter.

In the second instance,
“Q: Does not Jesus overturn this Law?”
“A: No. Eating and picking up food to eat is not work.”
“Q: Whose Corn was it? Was Jesus not stealing, no matter how little He stole?”
“A: Apart from this theoretical question being blasphemy and thus incurring the death penalty and eternal Damnation without forgiveness, we know that Everything Belongs To God.”

Anyway, what could be simpler than “Don’t work on the Sabbath.”?
