The Sermon on the Mount – a critique and a concordance.
1. 5:1-9
M't:5:1: And seeing the multitudes, he went up into a mountain: and when he was set, his disciples came unto him:
M't:5:2: And he opened his mouth, and taught them, saying,
Note how it is mentioned that Jesus opened His Perfect mouth. Being The Son of God, this was not absolutely necessary. We know this from the way that God’s voice speaks directly into our head and tells us to do things – it is a voice that only we True Christians can hear.
There then follows a list of those losers in the race of life.
M't:5:3: Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
M't:5:4: Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.
M't:5:5: Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.
M't:5:6: Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.
M't:5:7: Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.
M't:5:8: Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.
M't:5:9: Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.
If you have ample money, healthy friends and family, strong-willed and positive, already know how to be righteous, occasionally make someone see what Jesus meant rather than suing them into poverty, think only Godly thoughts, and bring peace with the Sword of The Lord, smiting the Catholic cohorts and other enemies of God, then you know God has smiled on you and the Gates of Heaven are sitting there awaiting your arrival.
Jesus recognizes all this and so does not need to mention it. Instead he tells an audience, half of whom were probably only there in the hopes of another free fish-sandwich, and the other half who have difficulty grasping the concept of basic hygiene, let alone Salvation, to cheer up so that they can stop going around raining on the parade of the Godly and generally upsetting the ambiance of Sunny Jerusalem by having publicly visible untreated sores, etc.
Let’s look at some of those who were there:
The poor in spirit, are widely but erroneously seen as people like Fred Phelps or the Southern Baptist Convention people: those for whom the fires of Glory have been weakened to a dim glow by the general idea that God gives out welfare checks and is happy with Darkies in a white man’s church, etc.
In reality, the poor in spirit, are not those lacking in the Holy Spirit, but are those who read a book about what it like to be poor, and live their lives understanding this. Maybe they even had a friend who drove around in something over two years old, or know someone who can’t afford the green fees at Landover Golf Club, etc.
As an example of how important it is to see what people poor in spirit are like, I give you Pastor Zeke as an example: with his $8000 suits, fleet of limos, private jets, his 59 bedroomed mansion and modest Caribbean island, one might think that he would have no concept of life in a trailer park, but this is not the case at all. He insisted he lived the hard life and learned from it. 2. 5:8
M't:5:8: Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.
Who are “the pure in heart”?
I see them as those who follow each and every single word of the Bible, whether they like it or not. And there are too many who are far from “pure in heart” who simply pick the parts of the Bible that coincide with their own views and believe that God approves of this. This is simply pretending that you are God. How blasphemous is that?
3. 5:10-13
M't:5:10: Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
M't:5:11: Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.
M't:5:12: Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.
M't:5:13: Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.
Jesus now moves on to that very modern topic of Christian persecution. There’s a lot of bullshit talked about persecution: Jesus cuts through it.
I get a lot of sniveling assholes whining that they are persecuted. Jesus must have been utterly and completely exhausted by these milquetoasts and blessed them so that they’d have to cheer up. If you can’t take a bit of persecution, you shouldn’t be a Christian.
Do you think that Sen. Barry Goldwater ever thought persecution was anything other than a trip to Heaven? He got some rough persecution for his Godly views back in the day, and we all know where he is now.
Jesus’s message is Martyrdom gets you to heaven. We don’t need the Islamic incentive of 72 virgins.
4. 5:14-16
M't:5:14: Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.
M't:5:15: Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.
M't:5:16: Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.
There’s fine advice: You have an opinion – Jesus say, “Spit it out! Say what you mean and what you want. Say it how God has told you it is. If the unbelievers turn nasty, say it more clearly! They’ll get the idea eventually and you’ll have saved a soul. Set yourself up as a sitting target or, as Jesus might say, a paragon of clear thinking virtue. BUT DON’T COME WHINING THAT YOU ARE “PERSECUTED” IT IS FORETOLD!!!
You know that, as a Christian, your arguments, thoughts and opinions are backed by God: even if these people revile you and beat you, they can never destroy the Truth within you! You may end up as a bloodstain on the pages of Christian history, but you’ll very soon have the last laugh from Heaven.
5. 5:17-18
M't:5:17: Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.
M't:5:18: For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.
Now a lot of apologists think that there is some sort of “Covenant” coming out of The Sermon on the Mount. It is not so. If you learn no other verse from the NT learn Matthew:5:17
A lot of people think that Heaven and Earth have passed and that the Sermon on the Mount is some sort of “New Deal” Well, if Heaven and Earth have passed, I must have slept through it. Here’s Jesus, reminding His audience that the OT is still the Word of God, silver and refined 7 times and unchanging.
6. 5:19-20
Now Jesus speaks of the eternal Word and Law of The Lord of Hosts:
M't:5:19: Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.
M't:5:20: For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.
When Jesus says “these commandments” He means the commandments of the Law of Moses. He does not mean “what I am telling you now.” So, if any of you know any Moabites in the congregation, or you know of anyone concealing Moabites, please let me know. (Deu:23:3)

Jesus is strong on being reasonable:
M't:5:21: Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not kill; and whosoever shall kill shall be in danger of the judgment:
M't:5:22: But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire.
I can say that none of my brothers have ever said Raca: in fact, outside of the Bible, I don’t think I have heard it said at all – There is the Power of God for you! One Word from Jesus, and we all obey – We are indeed a Christian Nation. I think this shows that in all of us, and I include Atheists and Catholics here, is an innate and detailed knowledge of the Bible and God. I only wish we kept so readily to more of this Godly advice.
8. 5:23-24
Here Jesus knows that you can choose your friends but not you relatives
M't:5:23: Therefore if thou bring thy gift to the altar, and there rememberest that thy brother hath ought against thee;
M't:5:24: Leave there thy gift before the altar, and go thy way; first be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift.
Obviously, Jesus does not want violence and hatred in the House of The Lord, He would never do such a thing, why would you? Common sense really, isn’t it?
9. 5:25-26
M't:5:25: Agree with thine adversary quickly, whiles thou art in the way with him; lest at any time the adversary deliver thee to the judge, and the judge deliver thee to the officer, and thou be cast into prison.
M't:5:26: Verily I say unto thee, Thou shalt by no means come out thence, till thou hast paid the uttermost farthing.
Now this chunk of Godly wisdom is interesting and has caused death, torture and consternation throughout the ages: The question is, “Who is your “adversary”. There are those who argue that “Adversary” is the same word as “Satan” of the OT, and you’re not going to agree with him, are you?
These idiots also argued the “prison” is a metaphor for Hell. Well, I’ll tell you now that there are no metaphors in the Bible, and even if there were, you wouldn’t understand them, because Jesus said He spoke in Parables so people would not understand. I hope that’s clear now!
No, your “adversary” is some idiot who tries to tell you what the Bible means, when you already know what it means. Jesus is telling us to say to such people, “Yeah, whatever, you believe that, you’ve sure convinced me, boy.”
10. 5:27-28
This next bit is good. Listen up!
M't:5:27: Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery:
M't:5:28: But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.
This is women’s equality, writ large. Jesus doesn’t want you seeing women as sex objects, no! Not at all! They are there to be bought and sold so that you might have many sons and have someone to look after them, do all the little things for you like the cooking, washing, cleaning, shopping, minor house repairs, organizing things, remembering birthdays and anniversaries and be there when you feel it is time for another son.
11. 5:29-30
M't:5:29: And if thy right eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.
M't:5:30: And if thy right hand offend thee, cut it off, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.
Jesus gives a run down of the Mesopotamian “One bad apple spoils the barrel” adapted for the lower orders of culture for whom chopping off bits was the only language they understood, i.e. the trailer trash he was speaking to.
You understand it, so it’s not applicable to you but you must support the idea for the lower orders, otherwise, where would we be? Cast your mind back to slavery: did slaves get the same treatment as plantation owners? No. That’s because plantation owners understood without this all this chopping off bit.
12. 5:31-32
M't:5:31: It hath been said, Whosoever shall put away his wife, let him give her a writing of divorcement:
M't:5:32: But I say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery.
Now Jesus comes to divorce. Jesus must have looked over the crowd of peasants and thought, “How likely is it that any one of those wives out there might be lusted after to the extent that someone would actually tap it? Each one is as ugly as a badger’s ass and it’d be a strong man, drink and a dark night of desperation before any man would go within a dozen cubits of them. Personally, I wouldn’t touch them with Judas’s. Nevertheless, I have to say this.”
Now, had it been a party of well-bred American True Christian with arm-candy wives to be proud of, I suppose it would have gone differently.
Divorce among the lower orders is to be abhorred. It creates homeless children who turn into criminals, drug addicts, catholics, etc on their 10th birthday. Divorce among the more responsible Rebuplicans does none of these things save giving some charming younger lady and opportunity to spend her life with a Godly man, and give the older ex-wife time to herself.
13. 5:33-42
M't:5:33: Again, ye have heard that it hath been said by them of old time, Thou shalt not forswear thyself, but shalt perform unto the Lord thine oaths:
M't:5:34: But I say unto you, Swear not at all; neither by heaven; for it is God's throne:
M't:5:35: Nor by the earth; for it is his footstool: neither by Jerusalem; for it is the city of the great King.
M't:5:36: Neither shalt thou swear by thy head, because thou canst not make one hair white or black.
M't:5:37: But let your communication be, Yea, yea; Nay, nay: for whatsoever is more than these cometh of evil.
M't:5:38: Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth:
M't:5:39: But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also.
M't:5:40: And if any man will sue thee at the law, and take away thy coat, let him have thy cloke also.
M't:5:41: And whosoever shall compel thee to go a mile, go with him twain.
M't:5:42: Give to him that asketh thee, and from him that would borrow of thee turn not thou away.
Now this fine piece of oratory is about oaths and is pretty self-explanatory. Basically, it says, keep your Word as God keeps His. You say it once, and that’s enough: what could be clearer? God has given His Word in “Ask and ye shall receive” and Jesus has told us that He is on the way back. You know this is true, so, in a similar manner, let other people know that this is what you mean when you say you “keep your word.”
14. 5:43-48
M't:5:43: Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy.
M't:5:44: But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;
M't:5:45: That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.
M't:5:46: For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same?
M't:5:47: And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not even the publicans so?
M't:5:48: Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.
Now that is the part that perhaps is the most misunderstood. Who is your neighbor, and who is your enemy? Once we have that straight, the rest is easy. You would think that a neighbor was someone who lived near you, and that an enemy was someone who was undercutting your meat-packing business by employing illegal Mexicans. Another angle is that it’s easy enough to buy a house next to Atheists, catlix, pennycoastals, demoncrats, gays, lezbeans, hippies, Darkies, Jews, etc., or you might have a neighbour sell to one of these abominations.
No, a neighbor is someone who is near you in spirituality. How do we know this? Jesus tells us in verse 46: “For if ye love them which love you, …” All the members of the Landover Congregation love all other members, this is natural. Others (as foretold as I say above) mock us. These are our enemies and God hates them all, you love God, you obey God, how is it possible to love them? These creatures will hate you, mock you, ridicule your beliefs and God Himself.
Jesus explains: M't:5:48: Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.
If it’s good enough for God, it’s good enough for me.
Your Father in heaven hates them all – it has to be so that the True Christian bows to this wisdom and should hate them all, too: they may not be my enemies, but they are the enemies of God for we have no personal enemies: there is nobody for us to hate personally, we love them all.
CONCLUSION:
As you travel through life, remember you have the answer, and the answer is certified by God. You are not wrong: your views are those of God. A True Christian will be able to quote Book, Chapter and Verse to show that he is right. Those who dissent are cursed and of Satan, you should pray for them, for as sure as God made little fishes, he’s not going to hear their prayers.
This leaves us only with the goal of all Christians, to live in a theocracy instead of a land damned by the voices of the demons of Satan who have managed to vote in a Muslim president born in a foreign land. Brothers, Sistern, friends, we need that theocracy so that the governments only job, ensuring its citizens reach heaven, can be achieved.

M't:5:29: And if thy right eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.
M't:5:30: And if thy right hand offend thee, cut it off, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.
Jesus gives a run down of the Mesopotamian “One bad apple spoils the barrel” adapted for the lower orders of culture for whom chopping off bits was the only language they understood, i.e. the trailer trash he was speaking to.
You understand it, so it’s not applicable to you but you must support the idea for the lower orders, otherwise, where would we be? Cast your mind back to slavery: did slaves get the same treatment as plantation owners? No. That’s because plantation owners understood without this all this chopping off bit.
12. 5:31-32
M't:5:31: It hath been said, Whosoever shall put away his wife, let him give her a writing of divorcement:
M't:5:32: But I say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery.
Now Jesus comes to divorce. Jesus must have looked over the crowd of peasants and thought, “How likely is it that any one of those wives out there might be lusted after to the extent that someone would actually tap it? Each one is as ugly as a badger’s ass and it’d be a strong man, drink and a dark night of desperation before any man would go within a dozen cubits of them. Personally, I wouldn’t touch them with Judas’s. Nevertheless, I have to say this.”
Now, had it been a party of well-bred American True Christian with arm-candy wives to be proud of, I suppose it would have gone differently.
Divorce among the lower orders is to be abhorred. It creates homeless children who turn into criminals, drug addicts, catholics, etc on their 10th birthday. Divorce among the more responsible Rebuplicans does none of these things save giving some charming younger lady and opportunity to spend her life with a Godly man, and give the older ex-wife time to herself.
13. 5:33-42
M't:5:33: Again, ye have heard that it hath been said by them of old time, Thou shalt not forswear thyself, but shalt perform unto the Lord thine oaths:
M't:5:34: But I say unto you, Swear not at all; neither by heaven; for it is God's throne:
M't:5:35: Nor by the earth; for it is his footstool: neither by Jerusalem; for it is the city of the great King.
M't:5:36: Neither shalt thou swear by thy head, because thou canst not make one hair white or black.
M't:5:37: But let your communication be, Yea, yea; Nay, nay: for whatsoever is more than these cometh of evil.
M't:5:38: Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth:
M't:5:39: But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also.
M't:5:40: And if any man will sue thee at the law, and take away thy coat, let him have thy cloke also.
M't:5:41: And whosoever shall compel thee to go a mile, go with him twain.
M't:5:42: Give to him that asketh thee, and from him that would borrow of thee turn not thou away.
Now this fine piece of oratory is about oaths and is pretty self-explanatory. Basically, it says, keep your Word as God keeps His. You say it once, and that’s enough: what could be clearer? God has given His Word in “Ask and ye shall receive” and Jesus has told us that He is on the way back. You know this is true, so, in a similar manner, let other people know that this is what you mean when you say you “keep your word.”
14. 5:43-48
M't:5:43: Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy.
M't:5:44: But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;
M't:5:45: That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.
M't:5:46: For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same?
M't:5:47: And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not even the publicans so?
M't:5:48: Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.
Now that is the part that perhaps is the most misunderstood. Who is your neighbor, and who is your enemy? Once we have that straight, the rest is easy. You would think that a neighbor was someone who lived near you, and that an enemy was someone who was undercutting your meat-packing business by employing illegal Mexicans. Another angle is that it’s easy enough to buy a house next to Atheists, catlix, pennycoastals, demoncrats, gays, lezbeans, hippies, Darkies, Jews, etc., or you might have a neighbour sell to one of these abominations.
No, a neighbor is someone who is near you in spirituality. How do we know this? Jesus tells us in verse 46: “For if ye love them which love you, …” All the members of the Landover Congregation love all other members, this is natural. Others (as foretold as I say above) mock us. These are our enemies and God hates them all, you love God, you obey God, how is it possible to love them? These creatures will hate you, mock you, ridicule your beliefs and God Himself.
Jesus explains: M't:5:48: Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.
If it’s good enough for God, it’s good enough for me.
Your Father in heaven hates them all – it has to be so that the True Christian bows to this wisdom and should hate them all, too: they may not be my enemies, but they are the enemies of God for we have no personal enemies: there is nobody for us to hate personally, we love them all.
CONCLUSION:
As you travel through life, remember you have the answer, and the answer is certified by God. You are not wrong: your views are those of God. A True Christian will be able to quote Book, Chapter and Verse to show that he is right. Those who dissent are cursed and of Satan, you should pray for them, for as sure as God made little fishes, he’s not going to hear their prayers.
This leaves us only with the goal of all Christians, to live in a theocracy instead of a land damned by the voices of the demons of Satan who have managed to vote in a Muslim president born in a foreign land. Brothers, Sistern, friends, we need that theocracy so that the governments only job, ensuring its citizens reach heaven, can be achieved.
And this is the message of the Sermon on the Mount.
