Didn't he die before the crucifixion? Just because the ritual of baptism existed way back then doesn't mean that the Baptist religion existed then. I think any historian would agree the Baptist religion formed out of the Protestant Reformation.

Baptist predates Catholicism by at lest 300 years friend. Though it is not quite that straightforward of an issue. There have been "Popes" Pontius Maximus in Roman long before Catholicism was started. For example Julius Caesar was one.

What's with all the non-Christ-like behavior of people here. I thought this was supposed to be a Christian forum, yet everyone is saying things like this that would have Christ rolling in his grave (were he in one).

Anyway, Bobby-Joe, I'm not saying that I don't agree that people who performed baptisms (baptists if you will) didn't exist before Catholicism. I'm merely saying that the Baptist religion didn't exist until a long time after Catholicism formed. Kind of like how "popes" may have existed before the religion of Catholicism started (which technically wasn't until the Great Schism when the Catholics and the Orthodox split).
