Why all the hate for science?

Nature does not always fall in line with our predispositions of what makes us comfortable. Is God just a way to bring comfort into your life? A sense of purpose? Life can be purposeful without God. You can be moralistic, pleasant, well-adjusted, as I would like to think I am.
It was said in The Purpose Driven Life, that we where created for God's pleasure. If that is true, then certainly God is very sick. Rape, murder, torture, the list would go on and on. So you attribute that to the devil? Then God must enjoy the devil, as God CREATED the devil. Also, on evolution, wouldn't that be how God was created. Forming via a pre-dietal soup, so to speak. Because God had to be created somehow.
Science is just the new creation story. Except it is based on facts. Not fables.
I'm just going to make my introduction brief. I am genuinely interested in starting a discussion.

Also, would it not be in violation of the Ten Commandments to worship Jesus?

8 You shall not make for yourself an idol, whether in the form of anything that is in heaven above, or that is on the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.

Welcome friend. Now first of all, we don't hate science. That's a leading question like "when did you stop beating your wife" when you haven't (that day, let's say).

We hate science that contradicts the Bible. We accept science that proves that the Bible is right.

And yes, you are right: God is responsible for everything:

Isaiah 45:7
I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things.

Why did you think we didn't know this?

As for the idol thing: Jesus = God = Jesus. He's his own Son. How difficult is that to understand?

Let me guess: you never really cracked open a Bible have you?

God is not comfort, Son – He is the Creator of the Universe. He left behind an owners manual telling us how to live – it's call the Bible (KJV1611). If you disobey it you void your warranty – just like you might do with a new car. Oh sure, it might be nice to strap on that aftermarket turbocharger – but you will wind up with a blown head gasket. Things are not always easy with God, but you have a choice.

If Jesus is God's son. Then Jesus is not God. He would be a creation of God's, but would not be God. In Mark 12:29 Jesus said "Here, O Israel: The Lord our God is one Lord." The words"our God" indicate that Jesus had a higher God over him, a stronger God than him. Jesus didn't say "Your God". He said "our God" which includes Jesus as the creation of God.
Therefore my point still stands. Worshiping Jesus is breaking a biblical principal.

Also, shouldn't the fact that their are more than one religion, indicate that there is no true religion. If believing in Jesus is the only way to eternal salvation. Then why would God, being omnipotent and omniscient, having the ability to know the future, and the power to change all things, would it not be reasonable to assume that he would have the power to say no this is the way. If he is jealous, like the scripture I quoted above says. Then why doesn't he do something about it? Surely having the power to create the universe, would mean he would have the power to say "hey c'mon now, this is the way."

There is an old Irish joke- "yeah but are you a catholic atheist, or a protestant atheist." And that is what I was talking about above. You are born into religion. If you were born in Greece long ago, you would worship Zeus, Norse-Thor, and so on. Why doesn't God just settle this argument. I've heard people say he has the power to make rocks talk. Being the creator of everything. So if God is jealous of other Gods. Then God is quite lazy, because he never does anything about it.

Why would God, seemingly randomly choose some people to go to hell and others not to? It's not the baby's fault they where born Muslim.

The baby isn't born a mooslimb, that's what they want you to believe. And as they are a false religion, they are obviously wrong.

He gave us free will to stop being mooslims or cathlycks or atheists. If the mooslim baby grows up and finds Jesus, he or she too can be Saved(R) GLORY! That is of course, if it hasn't blown itself up before that time.

You are quoting that out of context. The complete passage, starting with John 10:23, reads as follows:
"And Jesus walked in the temple in Solomon's porch. Then came the Jews round about him, and said unto him, How long dost thou make us to doubt? If thou be the Christ, tell us plainly. Jesus answered them, I told you, and ye believed not: the works that I do in my Father's name, they bear witness of me. But ye believe not, because ye are not of my sheep, as I said unto you. My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand. I and my Father are one."




In divinity? In a holy "Trinity"? No! They are one in PURPOSE. Just as no one shall pluck them out of Jesus' hand, so too shall no one pluck them out of God's hand.



Need more proof? Then read:


"Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word; That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me. And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one."


So are you saying that people born in Ireland are not born Catholic or Protestant? They are. There parents chose their faith for them. People are born Muslim. Just like you (possibly?) were born Christian. Can you say if your parents were Muslim, you wouldn't be? And what about my point of God being lazy?

He could, but He didn't. He wants people to find Him. He gave us free will so we can choose between Salvation(R) and eternal hellfire.

And how would He settle an argument with imaginary skydaddies? It's not like Allah really exists does he?

He gave us a great manual, the KJV1611, on how to find Him. It is our choice, our responsibility.

Of course He could create us all as robots who loved nothing but Him, but what fun is there in being Robots? He wanted to create us with Free Will(tm), so that we would have the choice between loving and worshipping Him or burning in Hell forever. Think of it as the most serious competition of all time: was there ever a competition that was worth winning if there weren't some losers to make us feel better?

First off, I am glad that you are so willing to mention that you are indeed an atheist--that will make our Department of Faith investigation go that much smoother . However, I must question why you are here? If you aren't here to admit to your filthiest sins (PM myself or Pastor Zeke with the most graphic details to ensure that you get completely forgiven in the eyes of God), then what do you expect to come of this? We've heard all sorts of atheist lies before, and that hasn't swayed our faith! I do hope that in your stay here the Love of Jesus that is just before your eyes will warm your heart and you will Welcome Him into your heart today. Truly the angels in Heaven will rejoice when you do that (and submit a healthy tithe to atone for your aforementioned sins).

As an atheist, I presume that you have an unhealthy prejudice against all Christian science. I hope that while you are here you can soften your heart and learn from the several scientists that we have on this board, not the least of which is myself. I have earned several Doctorates and certificate of accomplishments from the Landover University as well as from the Bush administration. Not to sound like a braggart, but Landover boasts the finest collection of scientific minds that this world has ever seen! We are special liasons to such fine research groups as Answers in Genesis and Institute for Creation Research -- how many so-called "top tier" schools can boast that?!

In my opinion you are relying altogether too much on your worldly wisdom; friend, you must let your prejudices go and listen to your heart and what Jesus is telling you. All heavy thinking ever got anyone was a headache and a trip to Hell; I suggest you sit back, relax, and let the Love of Jesus shine on you.

We are commanded to hate those that hate God.

Psalm 139:19 Surely thou wilt slay the wicked, O God: depart from me therefore, ye bloody men.
20 For they speak against thee wickedly, and thine enemies take thy name in vain.
21 Do not I hate them, O LORD, that hate thee? and am not I grieved with those that rise up against thee?
22 I hate them with perfect hatred: I count them mine enemies.

Where have we broken even one of God's commandments?
