KNOXVILLE - A 69-year-old woman whose body was found on a Blount County trail over the weekend was on her way to visit her daughter in Georgia when she was allegedly slain by a Sevier County man, according to police.

The suspect, 34-year-old Tracy Lyn Fox, has been charged with criminal homicide and is being held in the Blount County Correctional Facility in lieu of $500,000 bond pending a Friday court appearance.

Wanda D. Britt, who lived on Trentville Way in Knox County, had planned on getting her hair washed and then dropping by a bank Friday before visiting her daughter, Melissa Jones, in Georgia. When she didn't call or show up as was normal Jones reported her missing, according to a report from the Knox County Sheriff's Office.

"... the victim never called the complainant after their talk at" 1 p.m., according to the report.

Britt's daughter reported her missing about 10:30 p.m., and Britt's cell phone was found in a trash can at Foothills Mall in Maryville, the report notes. It wasn't immediately clear how her cell phone was recovered.

Her body was found on a trail off Quarry Hollow Road in Blount County on Saturday, and the following day Fox was arrested in Chattanooga while in possession of her 2009 Dodge Caliber.
