The latest success in an "atheist literary wave" is GOD: THE FAILED HYPOTHESIS ($28, Prometheus Books) in which Victor Stenger--a fellow of the Committee for Skeptical Inquiry and a research fellow of the Center for Inquiry--argues that science has advanced sufficiently to make a definitive statement on the existence or nonexistence of the traditional Judeo-Christian-Islamic God.
After evaluating all the scientific evidence, Stenger concludes that beyond a reasonable doubt the universe and life appear exactly as we might expect if there were no God. He convincingly shows that not only is there no evidence for the existence of God, but scientific observations actually point to his nonexistence. Stenger invites readers to put their minds--and the scientific method--to work to test this claim.

Of course the Judeo-Christian-Islamic God is the only reasonable God out there, all eastern religions lack a god and Hinduism fails at being a religion.

Ha the book most likely attempts to say that it is all done through science. But to prove God doesn’t exist you must prove that without X the world would not be any different but because X could have affected the world in unforeseen ways.

It looks like an interesting read though another long book to add to my read list.

I've found it to be used most frequently by wishy-washy "neoconservatives" who claim to follow the Bible to the letter but are compelled by greed and intimidation to clamber into bed with the yid lobby--for example, one often hears the egregious claim that America was founded on Judeo-Christian principles. This is nonsense, of course. Our nation was founded on CHRISTIAN principles, in spite of sabotage attempts by Thomas Jewferson and the ridiculous liberal assertions that our Founders were "deists" whose primary ideological loyalties were to the outdated, paganistic legal codes of Greek and Roman homobarbarians. Every god is false. The book is about the fact that there is no god.

After all, there are 2.1 BILLION Christians in the world. How many "Electric Payagains" are there? Two thousand?

And a big part of those Christians are catholics, lutherans,... So there are less "true christians" (like you would call them) than atheists.
