They could do the same thing with a boat on a calm lake. For that matter, if the eartth were round the water would drain out the edges since the water would be higher in the middle.

Those of us who understand need to exercise patience. Eventually, there will come a teaching moment I am sure. Something will happen and these rather, I hope I'm not offending here, dense folks will see that we are right.

We've covered the Big Circle on a Flat Plain example. Now, we've explained the coasting car and boat illustrations. I'm not at all sure we have reached our students.

Be let's not give up on them.

I don't want to sound offensive or belittle anyone's belief (I would never insult anothers faith) in a flat earth. But what about craft that actually orbit the earth, NASA and other countries have sent several satellites into geo-stationary orbit and eliptical orbits around the Earth. when we fly, if you look out the Window of the aircraft you can see the curvature of the Earth. If the Earth was flat why do we not all see the same star constellations. I'm treading as carefully as I can here so please don't flame me, just answer my questions or correct my poor Catholic education. Thanks.

The is flat, that is true. Yes there are satellites that are above the earth. The curvature you see out of a plane window is the distortion in the window. The stars move around the earth.

Again forgive me. But if the Earth is flat, then why are geo-stationary satellites able to map, photograph and detail earth bound features as the earth rotates. If it were flat then these satellites would capture only the same point at all times. I don't belive the earth is flat, Humans observed the round earth for the first time in 1961 and a myriad of scientific explanation, proof, photographs and so on exist to prove the earth is round. Can you show me some concrete scientific proof for a flat earth?

I didn't say they move, I said I believe the earth below them rotates. The Geo-stationary satellites are at a fixed point above the Earth.

I didn't bring God into this and I am certainly not infested with Demons. How dare you?

Did you miss the 'stationary' part in the word 'geo-stationary'? These satellites don't move but, rather, are held there by material in the firmament. They are not part of the celestial hemisphere, which rotates (not the earth).

The moon does move to another part of the earth of where the sun is not. The earth and moon are on opposite sides of each other. So you could say it is on the other side of the earth.
