So the sun creates heat, but not in space, only on the earth because the Earth is not in space? So you're saying that if the molecules of my body were in space, infrared molecules would not excite them, creating heat, because I am not on Earth? Sister, I too am confused. Doesn't the planet Mercury lack an atmosphere? Is he saying it wouldn't be hot there because there are no molecules to "excite"?

I am not sure what Aformerbaptist problem is. I have a suspicion that he smokes some of the devils weed. That would explain why he is so darn hateful and his weird theories. My wife just finished running the vacuum and the motor was quite warm.. Maybe I need a new one?

if your body was in free space, you would be baked because the high intensity waves coming at you would increase your body molecules' kinetic energy. that is why you must wear space suits when you are past the atmospheric point because the temperatures are extreme along with the very low barometric pressure. temperatures can range from 120 celcius to -160 celcius depending on if you are facing the sun or not. the surface of mercury is very hot yes because the gamma rays, x rays, and UV rays heat up the solid surface. look up does heat travel in a vacuum if you dont believe me. and james d, you are an idiot. a vacuum clearer is different then a vacuum of space haha god i cant believe you tried to make me seem dumb when that was the best you could come up with. btw your vacuum clearer is warm because of the transfer of electrical energy to kinetic energy of the vacuum and heat is given off. heat is energy. and i dont smoke weed and its not the devil's plant. So, even though heat cannot travel in space according to you, temperatures can be as high as 120 degrees Celcius? That is extremely hot for a place with no heat.

yes the extremities of the space suit can reach those temperatures, it is heavily layered so the person inside doesnt die. and on top of that, astronauts must wear full body under suit full of tubes for cold water to run through them so they are somewhat comfortable for when they do face the sun. look up space suits, im tired of explaining every single little thing to yall, just research it

What a load of tosh! Spacesuits aren't heavily layered -- it's the tubby astronauts inside said suits that give a bulky appearance. The "astronauts" one sees posing in official NASA photos are body-doubles.

Astronauts need the extra fat due to the chilliness of space; during EVAs the chaffing of their fat thighs keeps them nice and toasty whilst scrabbling for dropped screwdrivers (dexterity is somewhat compromised due to the fatness of their fingers). NASA is perhaps the only government agency who actively recruit the morbidly obese, although this recruitment is vehemently denied by NASA due to their not wanting to appear discriminatory against those of average size.

This boy never made much sense to me, Brother. First he claimed there was nothing in space, then he claimed there was water in space, while he obviously has never been there to prove either of these statements right. Apparently, he prefers blindly believing what someone with a PhD tells him over common sense. How could heat travel from the sun to the earth if there is no medium to carry the warmth? Logically speaking, this "vacuum" would be the best insulator you can think of, and we would be deep frozen.
