Ohio boy fights for right to wear make-up to school

HAMILTON, Ohio (WLS) -- An eighth grade boy from Hamilton, Ohio, is fighting a school ban over wearing makeup to class. Thirteen-year-old Matt Allsup wears black eye makeup, lipstick and fingernail polish. Matt's mom supports her son's choice. They point out that every student at Matt's school is required to wear a character badge pledging to value uniqueness in others. But school administrators say Matt's makeup is against dress code and a distraction. "None of my classmates found it distracting or anything and it's not extreme. I don't see why I can't wear it," said Matt Allsup, wears makeup.

"He's being sexually discriminated against. Nowhere in the rules does it say that males can't wear make-up," said Mindy Ball, Matt's mother.
Matt and his mother plan to hire an attorney to take the issue to court.

Some mother!! This lady should be doing her job and make her kid dress up like normal. What do they think public school is for? A halloween fashion show?

I applaud the principal of that school for rejecting the 'goth look'. That's the easiest way to make a school safe from mass killings. Now if only we could get a law...

Agreed if these tards dont like it they can just keep looking inside their bibles and stay on they knees with their eyes closed, they wont see a thing, they wont care, and its none of their piffleing buisness

Yea, that might be the case.... IF IT WAS A SPECIAL SCHOOL FOR FREAKS AND QUEERS!!!! But we have to think of the other children. Just look at Columbine, we let Gothics mix with the general public there, and we all know how THAT turned out!

In my opinion, all these gothic kids need a good dose of electric-shock therapy. That, coupled with daily beatings may be the way to get through to them. Though my Pastor says half these kids are beyond helping. Lock them away in a padded cell, and give them a few razor blades to play with - that's what he says.

I see no reason why boys shouldn't be allowed to wear makeup. After all, girls are allowed to wear pants.

Being abused like that is what makes some people choose goth as a way of expressing themselves. If that is what they feel expresses their personality why not let them do it. Just because someone dresses in a way that you don't doesn't mean they will be violent.

If that is what they feel expresses their personality why not let them do it.

Because tohey look like freaks and this encourages them to act like freaks. And what’d happen if every school kid slapped makeup on his face – the place would look like a circus of misfits!

Just because someone dresses in a way that you don't doesn't mean they will be violent.

You have no idea how many people, dressed strangely, have threatened me with violence because I told them their clothes were weird, otherwise you wouldn’t say that – they are all maniacs!
