America is a Christian country.

Pastor please read this and you will that America is in no way a Christian nation. If you look up the Treaty Of Tripoli you will see that on November 4th 1796 that it was signed and was eventually effective June 10th 1797. So in 2-3 years of the founding of America our own government which consisted of our founding father's at the time agreed that America was not a Christian nation. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Treaty_of_Tripoli this link will give you more information. Many people come here with the hopes of shocking us. They tell us they are not religious, they do not believe the LORD looks on, they do not believe His commands are relevant. What they fail to recognize is that religion directs and controls our lives. It is not a question of whether people are religious, it is only a matter of which religion a person serves. This religious orientation is often not acknowledged in our day, yet God's creatures cannot escape this fundamental truth of their nature. They may worship false gods, or they may worship the true God, but they will worship someone or something. Someone's religion controls every group, organization, institution, society. Every religion vies for power and control of our culture. You may consider thinking about what it is exactly you worship, and then you'll know what holds you in bondage. Faith in Christ can free you! I wish you to be free, dear. I wish you to have a heart of love, not lust, a spirit of freedom, not bondage, a hope for the future, not an impossible fantasy. One day I pray you too will look at another woman with Biblical respect - the way in which the LORD Himself looks upon her, as a compliment to men, a help meet to a husband, and complete in motherhood.

The only choice is either to believe in a benevolent, loving God (not supported by any holy text of any religion), or believe in a cruel God (supported by the holy texts and the violent history of religions). But not believe in anything, that is just so wrong... It just cannot be true, our lives cannot be just random, they have to have a meaning, even if that meaning is having a God observe and enjoy our suffering...

You are, I think, a graduate student at a moderately reputable university (not the University of Wisconsin). How is it that you continue to think in such binary terms?

First, I would take issue with your reference to "a" God. God is God, the one and only God. Your frankly cavalier use of the indefinite article offends us all and, more importantly, offends Him.

But to get to the point, can you explain why it is that, for you, God must be either "benevolent and loving" or "cruel"? God, in His Righteous Wisdom, is both. He is Everything!

Revelation 22:13 I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last.

God may appear to treat you and your ilk cruelly, but He does so in His benevolent love, in order to guide you towards His Holy Truth.

I suppose I can see ( in some sick way) why someone would want to be a Joo, a blabbering Buddhist, or an idolatrous Cathylick. At least those systems allow for an explanation of a higher power, or what Man's purpose on this Earth is.

An Athesit.. that's like saying you want nothing! Atheists seem to me only a few steps away from the beasts of the field and the fish of the sea, in their approach to life.

Since man is only a creature (according to them) their only purpose in life is to eat, sleep, and fornicate the whole day long! How Awful!

An atheist is little more than a sad, lonely chicken with its head cut off, spending what little time it has on earth scampering and hopping blindly about, and causing distress and scandal for all good folk who have to view it!

Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination.

There is another part where it says homosexuals should be stoned to death but the Post-It note I had there fell off because of sardine oil I need a new Bible.

Wait what? You take pleasure out of watching innocent people get tortured? And what's worse, you think Jesus will partake?

I don't know what kind of backwards Christianity you're following, but Jesus is all loving, and even though some good people might end up in hell, Jesus certainly would love to have spared them. He wouldn't laugh at them. The sight of even racist people burning in hell probably makes Jesus sad.
