    Don't Pray to End Poverty

Today one of the goody two shoes groups in Christianity urged people all over the world to pray to end poverty:

Over 100 million Christians are expected to take part in a day of prayer and action on behalf of the world s poor today

It's a kind of Christian folly, of course. The best thing any of us Christians can do is to tell people who are poor to make more money.

It's as simple as that. I did not pray to end poverty and I hope no one else did either.
Isaiah 24:1-3 Behold, the LORD maketh the earth empty (2)...as the taker of usury, so with the giver of usury to him. (3) The land shall be utterly emptied, and utterly spoiled: for the LORD hath spoken his word.

Well of course it's not going to work. If these people actually cracked a Bible open they would see why.

Mark 14:7 For ye have the poor with you always, and whensoever ye will ye may do them good: but me ye have not always.

All of that is up to Jesus. He rewards and punishes as He sees fit. And He does have plans.

Matthew 25:29 For unto every one that hath shall be given, and he shall have abundance: but from him that hath not shall be taken away even that which he hath.
This verse proves beyond any doubt that God is a Republican.

Re: Don't Pray to End Poverty

        Bless you Mayor Hold!

Typical knee-jerk "feel good Christianity" that is all too prevalent in this nation of God.

Some of the promises made by Christians so far include wasting less, shopping ethically, campaigning, giving more time and money, praying and reducing carbon footprints.
All counter-productive concepts if we are to truly make a difference in poverty levels.

Wasting MORE improves the economy and puts the homeless and poor to work in collecting and recycling our waste.

Shopping ethically? What does this even mean? American Christians deserve the best product at the lowest possible price. If this means it comes from the gooks, it's even better as they clearly have faith in Godly American capitalism and continue to purchase Treasury securities.

True Christians™ have little use for "campaigning". God started this country, Satan tried to take it over for a brief period, but God clearly has Lucifer in checkmate as He prepares to rain fire on any liberal that again threatens 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.

Giving more "time and money" to who? Losers that don't awake until 1:00 PM with the shakes or the narcotic withdrawals?

But "reducing carbon footprints" really lit my fuse. Crude oil, natural gas and coal are gifts from God. To reduce our usage of His gifts is the same as smacking your mother in the face with a dead mackerel. Rather than insulting Him, we should be maximizing our usage of these infinate resources and employing the "poor" and "poverty-stricken" to extract.

I did not pray for those that will not help themselves.

        In Christ.
Matthew 19:14 "But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven."

Re: Don't Pray to End Poverty

Yeah.... end poverty, put poor people out of work. Talk about insensitive.
Isaiah 45:7 I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things.
Amos 3:6 Shall a trumpet be blown in the city, and the people not be afraid? shall there be evil in a city, and the LORD hath not done it?
Numbers 21:6 And the LORD sent fiery serpents among the people, and they bit the people; and much people of Israel died.
Matthew 10:34 Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.
Matthew 10:35 For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.
Matthew 10:36 And a man's foes shall be they of his own household.

If there were no poor people, who would be hired for entry level positions? If no one were hired for entry level positions, who would advance to upper level positions? The poor provide a foundation for the rest of capitalism. Without them, everyone would be poor!

Re: Don't Pray to End Poverty

I am shocked beyond belief! It is clearly blasphemous to pray to end poverty. It is probably the very worst thing (apart from becoming Catholic) a person can do! Homerism pales into insignificance; Witches can be ignored; atheists can go hang but, to pray for an end to poverty is simply WRONG!

M't:26:11: For ye have the poor always with you; but me ye have not always.
M'r:14:7: For ye have the poor with you always, and whensoever ye will ye may do them good: but me ye have not always.

There you have it – written, not once, but TWICE, by God!

Ending poverty would mean destroying a prophecy of Christ Himself!

Can you imagine the vile gloating amongst atheists? “Where is your God now? Ha!”

It simply does not bear thinking about!

Re: Don't Pray to End Poverty

Jesus told us to pray that the Father's will be done:

Matt. 6:10: Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as [it is] in heaven.

Luke 11:2: And he said unto them, When ye pray, say, Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven, so in earth.

As already noted, Jesus said that we have the poor with us always. It is therefore plainly not the Father's will that poverty should end; if it were, what would stop God Almighty from simply snapping His fingers and poofing poverty out of existence?
This church is dedicated to preaching True Christianity™ and the King James Bible exactly as they are, with no alterations to make them more politically correct for modern liberals. If you think that we've misquoted or twisted Scripture or quoted any verse out of context, please explain in detail how we've done so. Otherwise, if what you read on this site offends you, then you're offended by Almighty God and His Word, not by us.
