Has Texas turned its back on God now?

What do you think God says should happen if somebody has been raped?

You don't know do you? You are using humanist values to judge what should happen, do you not trust God on these points?

    Absolutely pathetic!

Well friend, there are two major things wrong with your post:

    1. Your opinions about rape and the consequences are not in line with Scripture (you might want to read the entire thread: all of your concerns have been addressed countless times).

    2. For a supposed Texan, you sure write like a sissy. Since you didn't state your sex, I will give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you are a female.

Speaking of which: have you posted a thread at the Introduction Forum? We'd like to get to know you!

    Yours in Christ,

    Z. Smyth

    Then thou shalt bring her home to thine house, and she shall shave her head, and pare her nails;
And she shall put the raiment of her captivity from off her, and shall remain in thine house, and bewail her father and her mother a full month: and after that thou shalt go in unto her, and be her husband, and she shall be thy wife.
And it shall be, if thou have no delight in her, then thou shalt let her go whither she will; but thou shalt not sell her at all for money, thou shalt not make merchandise of her, because thou hast humbled her.

Not to mention that she probably asked for it by not dressing properly, who's going to marry a nutter? "She will be mentally affected by that for years.", pfff, she should try to have some dignity. You're the disgusting scumbag here, sir, for wanting the one man who we can force to marry her chucked in prison. And without a husband, she basically spits in the face of God's blessing. (Genesis 1:28: And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply).

Seriously, if you can choose between damaged and brand new china, you're going to choose the one with cracks in it? Better to enforce the rule "you break it, you buy it", I'd say.

Why don't you introduce yourself in the introduction forum? Please include favorite Bible verse, hunting rifle, etc. etc.
Also, we back up our statements with proof around here, so could you please quote scripture for "For rape is an evil deed"?

hmmm well rape is rape... its evil... Deuteronomy 22:28-29 is if the girl wanted to lay with the man. Rape is disgusting... but in no way should she be allowed to murder the poor baby its not his or her fault it's father was trash.

He hasn't got a choice. It's part of his punishment for fornicating that he will have to endure a grumpy resentful wife until he dies and feed and clothe her so her father isn't saddled with a daughter nobody else will ever marry.

Of the people here that support the marriage of the daughter and the rapist, how many know that the Deuteronomy verses they keep repeating are in accordance with the Israeli law system at the time of the written book?
Can you show me where in the Bible it is said that the laws so put forth are no longer to be obeyed?

    Chapter and verse, please.

Please, do not see this as hateful, for I am just a curious bystander that would like to be educated in the word and His followers... Oh, and what if the women is engaged, but not married?
For someone who purports to have knowledge of Biblical history, you fall far short. You could at least have read the rest of the chapter.

Read Deuteronomy 22:23-27. You know, the verses right before Deuteronomy 22:28-29.

There you will learn what to do if a man rapes a woman who is betrothed, that is, sold to a man : If in the city, then since she did not cry for help, both shall be stoned to death. If in the country, then only he shall be stoned to death, and she will be considered guiltless.

If she is 'merely engaged', I assume by this you mean 'under contract' or 'pre-sold', she is then still a virgin and the rapist must pay her father and marry her. I would expect the intended husband would anticipate a refund of his purchase price, and the rapist may well end up paying that as well.
