My neighbor's wife works at home answering phones and caring for her children, but she's too lazy to do the housework so they have a cleaning service that comes once a week. I suppose she's earning some money, but at least she's at home with the children.
Today I noticed a little kid throwing out the garbage, but it wasn't the little boy who lives there, this one was a few years older and looked like a Mexican, not a Chinese. He could have been ten years old. When I saw him he was bringing the wheelie bins in from the street (today was garbage day) and then he and his mom left for their next job.
I was outside washing my Buick Riviera for Pastor Ezekiel so that it would be clean when he comes to pick it up. The neighbor on the left was outside, and she came over to me to point out that she thought that it was terrible for that mom to take her kid to work and make him work, too. She was going on about child labor laws and how kids should be outside playing, not cleaning houses. (This is coming from a lady with a 34 yr. old son who lives at home and doesn't work more than some odd jobs once in a while).
I just shrugged my shoulders and kept doing what I was doing, but what I saw was a helpful little kid who was doing his best to help out his mom and working hard so that his family can have food on their table. He wasn't complaining, either. I didn't think it would be right to say, "Look at your kid. He never works," so I just kept my mouth shut.
Say what you want about those Mexicans, but they do the work that Americans don't want to do without complaining. I can think of a few kids who I know who could use some solid labor to straighten them out.
