i am most definitely not against discipline but discipline must be fair to the crime committed. How the piffle is beating an unborn child with a rod fair punishment for... no crime at all?

What does being fair have to do with it?

This is what the Bible says on the subject: Proverbs 13:24 "He that spareth his rod hateth his son: but he that loveth him chasteneth him betimes." So clearly love is reason enough to beat the child. And who would not love an unborn baby?

If children grow up in fear of their parents they will always be haunted by that, i was never struck while growing up and am thankful for it.

You will stop being thankful when you burn in hell for all eternity. Your parents clearly hate you for dooming you that way.

I must not understand the joke here because surely you cannot be serious about this... really. You have drastically shaken my belief in the honest intentions of man. I hope your wife finds reason and either turns you in or leaves you or hopefully both.

pretty sure your children will probably grow up to be bullies or serial killers, and will most definitely not thank you for beating them. The whole idea of me going to hell for not being beaten as a baby is quite a strange thing to say and makes very little sense

My father beat the fear of God into me when I was a sinful youngster. I am very thankful that he assured me going to Heaven that way. I am sure my sons and grandsons feel the same way.

Why do you not understand that we are following the word of God here? What are you going to tell the police that people are living according to their religious beliefs? That people are living in a consensual relationship? That we spank our kids when they need it? Oh I'm sure they'll get the AFT on us right away. Oh wait, no they wont because these are our rights.

So it is your right to beat your pregnant wife with a rod so harm the baby and the wife.
Yet a subsequent post asks how to avoid bruising, and he is advised to go along with the stretch marks.
YES: It is illegal to beat your pregnant wife and you all know that it is illegal. However you all believe it is morally correct and necessary which scares me more than anything.
Following the word of God exactly as the bible says is barbaric. It is an ancient way of thinking.
The Dark Ages were horrendous, as were the crusades.
And you know that police would lock you up for beating your pregnant wife with a rod.

I now realize none of you can be saved from Damnation....you took the word of the lord and distorted it to something horrendous involving kidnapping/torture with rats/caning unborn children/castration.
These things are not accepted in society because they violate a persons right as a HUMAN.
Regardless of sex, race, or religion, no person should ever have to succumb to such treatment.
Have you all no empathy whatsoever?

I have not seen an update to the Bible from the hands of God saying to relax the rules.
