I think I saw that in a movie as well. Something about mistaking the baby for the turkey? Can't quite remember. But I guess when the munchies hit, nothing gets between a pot head and a sandwich.

The whole "it must have been laced with PCP" myth is just that; a myth that the weedheads parrot so they can pretend the devil's weed doesn't cause insanity and criminal impulses.

Drug dealers aren't the smartest people out there, but they don't lace marijuana with other, more expensive drugs simply because it isn't cost effective.

That might have been the case once-upon-a-time. I don't know. The modern product is different: it has been selectively bred in Holland for some time now, and Lisa's picture of that pot-whore is more like what is seen around here. These harlots even steep the stuff in wine or rum, and then go completely mental, eating toadstools and dancing like maniacs.

Study Underlines Marijuana Link to Psychosis


People who use cannabis in their youth dramatically increase their risk of psychotic symptoms, and continued use of the drug can raise the risk of developing a psychotic disorder in later life, scientists said on Wednesday.
In a 10-year study of links between cannabis use and psychosis, Dutch researchers found that cannabis use almost doubled the risk of later psychotic symptoms.
Experts commenting on the results said the major challenge for health authorities was to deter enough young people from using cannabis so that rates of psychosis could be reduced.
"This study adds a further brick to the wall of evidence showing that use of traditional cannabis is a contributory cause of psychoses like schizophrenia," said Robin Murray of the Institute of Psychiatry at Kings College London, who was not involved in the research.
Wednesday's findings, published in the British Medical Journal, echo research last year which found that young people who smoke cannabis for six years or more are twice as likely to have psychotic episodes, hallucinations or delusions.
Cannabis is the most commonly used illicit drug in the world, particularly among adolescents, and is increasingly linked to added risks of developing mental illness.

WARNING TO PARENTS

First I must reveal these words: “Schizophrenia Society of Canada”

I don't live in Canada, but occasionally visit Toronto during winter (their winter) for some reason. The city seems well lit, a seasonal backdrop for gently lapping waves upon the lakeshore. The perfect environment for psychotic prostitutes, I immediately thought. All of them would be on marijuana - and small wonder!

The young people repeatedly highlighted the ability that the cannabis has to help alleviate negative mood and boost social connectivity and the authors note that this is particularly pertinent to this population because early psychosis tends to affect people during adolescence and young adulthood. This is a stage where the need to fit in with ones' peers and to experiment are important developmental markers. This combined with the fact that a lot of people suffering from psychosis experience negative symptoms (which are likely to make them feel a lot more socially isolated than their peers) may explain why many young people are motivated to try and then continue to use cannabis.
