    Dog Recommendations (Help)

    Hi all,

Got myself into a bit of a pickle here. Seems like I promised the boys they could get a dog if they passed a scripture test I made. Granted it was easy stuff, but I still didn't think they would actually pass the thing. (It was just my way of getting them to work on their Bible studies.) I think my seven year old must have spent about 5 hours a day studying. Very diligent I must say, but I really know nothing about dogs so I need some advice.

I can't get them one of these little lap dogs or gaynines as I call them. Seems like every harlot in Hollywood is prancing around with a chihuahua these days, and the queers have more or less cornered the market on pomeranians and dachshunds. I want the kids to have a dog that screams hetero. The type of dog that can run, swim, jump and round up sheep if it needs to. A dog that will eat anything that it is given and won't expect pea snaps and pesto. My boys need a hound not a life companion. This dog needs to be committed and not just looking for a bed and some free handouts.

Basically, I need to know what the most appropriate dog breed is for some impressionable young boys that have never had a pet before. Obviously the Bible doesn't feature dogs in the best of ways (Proverbs 26:11) and names no breeds, but I'm sure there are more respected dogs than others. My basic expectations are as follows:

    1. Must be big.
    2. Must be able to guard the home.
    3. Must be able to guard the children.
    4. Not a picky eater.
    5. Must be obedient without being too domestic.

Any ideas? Pictures would be great, that would give us something to go from.

    I am thankful,

    Re: Dog Recommendations (Help)

For all the joy that a dog gives, it may be surprising that God speaks little of dogs. The most useful guide is probably:
Ex:11:6: And there shall be a great cry throughout all the land of Egypt, such as there was none like it, nor shall be like it any more.
Ex:11:7: But against any of the children of Israel shall not a dog move his tongue, against man or beast: that ye may know how that the LORD doth put a difference between the Egyptians and Israel.

You will recall that those verse follow Moses explaining God’s wonderful plan to kill all the first born of Egypt so that Pharaoh would let His people go, whilst at the same time, hardening Pharaoh’s heart so that pharaoh wouldn’t.

So what sort of Egyptian dog is it that likes True Christians™? I can only think that it will be the Pharaoh Hound.

Thank you for your response Brother Bathfire. We do like the idea of this fellow. I looked the Pharaoh Hound up and the description given was this:

The Pharaoh Hound is an intelligent, trainable, playful, and active breed. It is sociable with other dogs and with people; however, it can be aloof or reserved with strangers. It is typically very open and affectionate with its family and those it knows. It is an independent-minded, occasionally stubborn breed, yet can be very trainable when appropriate positive training methods are used. It has a strong hunting instinct, and caution should be observed when it is around small pets such as cats, birds, and rodents. It is not a demonstrative breed but rather is quietly affectionate. It is a vocal breed without being yappy or barking just for the sake of barking. It makes a good watch dog; however, it is not well suited as guard dog as it is rarely aggressive with people. This is not a breed suited for kennel situations due to its intelligence and activity level. The breed tends to bond deeply with its people and thrives best when it feels included as a member of the family.
They are also of a good size and the kids like the looks of him. Definitely a strong candidate.
Daniel 5:16-18 "Let thy gifts be to thyself, and give thy rewards to another; yet I will read the writing unto the king, and make known to him the interpretation."

If you had been an unsaved Catholic then perhaps a Rottweiler would be appropriate: http://pope-ratz.blogspot.com/

I don't think the Bible is saying one shouldn't have a dog here. I believe there were essentially bad dogs (wild and unclean) and good dogs (house pets) such as in this example:

Matthew 15:26-27 "But he answered and said, It is not meet to take the children’s bread, and to cast it to dogs. And she said, Truth, Lord: yet the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters’ table."

We want one of those good dogs. And one that will eat anything that falls from our table.

I breed and train Rottweilers for protection. If you contact me, I can see what type of dog would fit your needs. My prices usually range between $3,000-$10,000 depending on breeding, age, and level of training. Although I do give 50% off to True Christians™

Or if you want a hunting dog, I also have Brittanies (Seth's dogs). They're kind of sissy looking, but they are tough as nails when it comes to putting meat on the table. Prices for those run $1,000-$5,000 because they're much easier to train.

Sounds like something from the Molosser family would be right up your alley. I previously owned an English Mastiff, and she was very obedient and protective of the children, and a bit stupid. These big dogs were used in many wars of the past and aided Xerxes (albeit a Zoroastrian heathen) in helping slaughter the pantheistic Greeks (before his ultimate defeat). As a Christian, you may feel a certain kinship with these large breeds, as they were often tossed to the lions in ancient Rome for entertainment as well.
