Re: Mass Effect: Luke Skywalker meets Debbie Does Dallas!
I feel a little contradiction here...
The video says the game is bad because is shows that women are being used as objects. The kids are taught that womens deserve no respect. And that all in a game! that's absurd! Woman are equal to man! They are usefull! They're not just for sex, cleaning, cooking, baby making and stuff like that. Woman are equal to man. That's what the video is saying, and that's why you think the game is bad.
Now what does the bible say? Oh right, women ARE NOT equal to man. Sorry for that.
So issn't this game good for learning you're child the place of a woman in life? When our enemies strike us, we must not retaliate; we must even turn the other cheek. And we must forigve -- not seven times, but seventy times seven.

That's just something they say cause they're RINOs (Republicans in name only) hiding behind PC-statements, afraid to speak the plain truth:
Scared to confess that the real reason is, of course: That any kind of (obvious) display of lust, sex and/or nudity whatsover is wrong and sinful!
Same with the statements about children being affected.. Smoke-screens.
Cause these people aren't complaining about fag-enabling games like Mario Galaxies, or murderous-mudslime celebrating games like Assassins creed.
Good games should have wholesome, Godly themes, such as the ceaseless slaying of mudslimes - as that found in "America's Army."
Or the fight against evil unbelievers in a post-Rapture world, such as in "Left Behind".If thou be wise, thou shalt be wise for thyself: But if thou scornest, thou alone shalt bear it.
A foolish woman is clamorous: She is simple, and knoweth nothing.
Proverbs 9:12-13

LOL! I've seen that before! The game is okay, but it's not as filthy as those chicks tried to make out. There are romances, including a hot blue alien chick, but the most you see is a little side boob.My biggest problem with it is that it's supposed to be an "action RPG", but it's more of a shooter with RPG elements. The RPG parts are great, but if I want a shooter, I will play a shooter!
Space, and green chicks, the final frontier. These are the voyages of an atheist captain. His five year mission - To explore strange new women, to seek out new chicks and new chick hangouts. To boldly go where no man has gone before.

You request that we do not judge the bible until we have read it. Fair enough call.
We request that you stop judging games (particularly by their covers and sensationalist news media) until you sit down and play them.
There are no sex scenes in Mass Effect. I have played it. There is a romance plot where the player character becomes attracted to female members of the crew. That is all.
Do Chrisitans abhor romance now?

You're comparison is invalid; do video games claim to offer salvation? No. All they claim is offer momentary diversion by pandering to the players depravity. A Christian doesn't need to play a video game to understand it is sinful.

Re: Mass Effect: Luke Skywalker meets Debbie Does Dallas!
Bobby Joe I am a bit confused by that comment I just read of yours. So a Christian merely needs to hear that a game is sinful for it to be sinful? Those are exactly your words, if we use that context in that way, can we not say anything we hear is sinful once by that meaning is automatically sinful? If your God gave you a brain why not use it and try something for yourself. Simply someone telling you something like a game is bad doesn't automatically make it so.
But I see the comparison to be valid, however you are just trying to justify not being in the same position as everyone else in this world. A game in since does bring salvation to those who play it, they let one relax, rewind and live a stress free part of their life in most cases. To me that is salvation and who are you to tell me it's not? Salvation is different for every person.

We ask it, in the spirit of love, of Him Who is the Source of Love, and Who is the ever-faithful refuge and friend of all that are sore beset and seek His aid with humble and contrite hearts. Amen.

God being truth, justice, goodness, beauty, power, and life, man is falsehood, iniquity, evil, ugliness, impotence, and death. God being master, man is the slave. Incapable of finding justice, truth, and eternal life by his own effort, he can attain them only through a divine revelation... he who desires to worship God must harbor no childish illusions about the matter, but bravely renounce his liberty and humanity.

Originally posted by Bobby-Joe View PostWhat is is sin? Sin is loving something more than God. Therefore anything that distracts you from loving God is a sin. Super Mario Brothers Galaxy does just that. Even if Super Mario Brothers Galaxy doesn't directly cause homosexuality in young men and boys (and the evidence I have seen is very strong it does), it is time spent playing a game when you should be praying for God's forgiveness.
Here's my other quasi beef with this, it's obvious that if you had your way, only black children would be playing video games, but if our children spent no time playing video games, and you say that they should be asking for forgiveness; what should they be asking forgiveness from? breathing?
A game is nothing more than a diversion from the tepid hellhole of life that our oh so merciful god has created.
Now respond me this:
If God can stop evil but is not willing, he's malevolent and if he's willing but not able, he's not omnipotent.
If video games were a sin, why do we continue to mass produce, market, and over humanize the industry? By this I mean, god is baiting the children to sin through a growing gaming market, and if god is truly a merciful force, does that mean that he's sending our children to hell to be saved from heaven?

Originally posted by Brother Temperance View PostNo, he needs to hear FROM A RELIABLE SOURCE that it is sinful before he can reasonably assume it to be sinful.
Those are not his words, you baby-raping liar! If we hear something plausible from a reliable source, we can reasonably assume it to be true, but you have shown yourself to be a liar and a queer sympathiser, and so anything you have to say is automatically discredited.
First of all, who are you to condemn anyone in such a way? Where in the Bible does it give any right or authority to you or ANYONE other than God to dismiss what anyone says because they are not children of Him? I can tell you what it does say.
"Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you." Matthew 7:1-2
Do you know what the Bible has to say of false prophets? It says that by observing one's behavior, you gain insight to their true character.
"Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves. By their fruit you will recognize them. Do people pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles? Likewise every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Thus, by their fruit you will recognize them. Matthew 7:15-20
Now, considering your attitude towards the member you quoted, I ask you: what is your responsibility as church leader? It is to be a role model to your congregation, to embody the message of Christ and to teach it as he would have. So, what reaction did Jesus have towards those who were not familar with God? Did he do as you have done, and belittle them? No, he nurtured them, comforted them, ate with them, and defended them.
While Jesus was having dinner at Matthew's house, many tax collectors and "sinners" came and ate with him and his disciples. When the Pharisees saw this, they asked his disciples, "Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and 'sinners'?" On hearing this, Jesus said, "It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. But go and learn what this means: 'I desire mercy, not sacrifice.' For I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners." - Matthew 9:10-12
What mercy have you shown? How do you expect to lead anyone to Christ by calling them "baby-rapers"? Here's an idea, lead by example. Another idea, 'hate the sin and not the sinner.' Both cliché phrases, they seem to be very relevant here.
Oh, and don't you dare try to discredit anything I say by assaulting my ethics. I hold the Bible as my moral backbone, not your distorted interpretations that you use to justify such filth as titling your new members "unsaved trash."

John 7:24
Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment.
That's Jesus talking friend.
