To what purpose? Babies are delivered through the pelvis, not through the hip sockets.

I admit that I'm not too sure why this happens. Maybe it's to make giving birth easier, maybe it's something we used to have to do before we evolved into how we are now. The process actually leaves a scar on the hipbone, too. (So next time you come across a female skeleton, check her hips to see how many times she's given birth)

Well, I'll admit, I am on a lot of medication. But, I have thought this way my entire life, even when unmedicated. And I thoroughly believe that it's true.
