As a Christian I feel it is my job to pass judgement on all things, including movies I haven't seen. That's right, this year I only watched "Paradise Now" http://imdb.com/title/tt0445620/ accidentally thinking it was a remake of "Apocalypse Now" directed by George W. Bush as well as watching "Road House" 181 times. Needless to say I didn't have enough time to watch all (or any) of the nominated movies this year. Despite that I have still found the time to provide reasons to you for why Hollywood is destroying America.
Of all the catagories, best documentary is riddled with the most attacks on morality and Christian values.
Deliver us From Evil
In Inconvinient Truth
Iraq in Fragments
Jesus Camp
My Country, My Country
On paper these selections all sound like great family films. Deliver us From Evil would be a movie about the warriors that are helping to keep gays oppressed in America. An Inconvinient Truth would detail the falsities of evolution. Jesus Camp would be a look at Landover's own Family Vacation Bible-Gun camp. Iraq in Fragments educates the veiwer about the overwhelimg victory, upbeat nature and embrace that the Iraqi people have shown to American freedom-liberators in Iraq and My Country, My Country takes a trip back to a magical time in America- the 1800's, before the Civil War, when Christian morality was at an all time best.
Low and behold I discover, after reading the plot-outlines of the movies, that all of them are in fact, anti-American and anti-Christian. Deliver us From Evil is about a pedophile priest. An Inconvinient Truth presents global warming as fact. Jesus Camp presents a camp where young children are taught about Jesus and makes it seem like they are being "brainwashed". My Country, My Country and Iraq in Fragments both show the war in Iraq as anything but perfect, drawing on interviews from people who live in Iraq- the least qualified to discuss whether this war was a succuess or not, in my opinion.
On top of that an Inconvinient Truth is nominated for best song, sung by Mellisa Etheridge and the ceremony will be hosted by Ellen DeGeneres, both of whom are lesbians. I predict that they will break out in to some overly-debauched game of "hide the fist" several times during the show while the censores sit idly by and let the homes of America be filled with that smut. What was the Academy thinking having a lesbian with most of the word "Degenerate" in her last name host their show? This is quickly going to turn from self-congratulatory Hollywood narcissism to "Ellen does Dallas".
It's not the fact that these movies were made that is a threat; Hollywood churns out more vomit per year than all Disney Land amusement parks combined. It's the fact that these are documentaries which are based on fact. I don't know about you, but as a Christian and a Republican, facts are a threat to my very well-being! I think it is about time our Republican President sets up a committee to stop such films from being made (if it works in Russia then it can work here). The "facts" have no place in our society which is built on the teachings of Jesus and powered by the collective, blissful ignorance of its people.
