There was even a 'Christmas Song' by some Englishmen that was popular in the 70s - called Ring out SOLSTICE Bells.

      Oh, the irony.

Jethro Tull used to be my favorite Group! Until about five minutes later when I realized that "he" was not a bit like Jethro Bodine!

I must confess to being an ex-Jethro Tull fan myself. In the bad old days.

          Cured now though.

That just shows how truly pathetic you pagans are. Not only do you try and ruin Jesus' special day, but you can't even get the date right.
O Lord our God, help us to tear their soldiers to bloody shreds with our shells; help us to cover their smiling fields with the pale forms of their patriot dead; help us to drown the thunder of the guns with the shrieks of their wounded, writhing in pain; help us to lay waste their humble homes with a hurricane of fire; help us to wring the hearts of their unoffending widows with unavailing grief; help us to turn them out roofless with little children to wander unfriended the wastes of their desolated land in rags and hunger and thirst, sports of the sun flames of summer and the icy winds of winter, broken in spirit, worn with travail, imploring Thee for the refuge of the grave and denied it--for our sakes who adore Thee, Lord, blast their hopes, blight their lives, protract their bitter pilgrimage, make heavy their steps, water their way with their tears, stain the white snow with the blood of their wounded feet! We ask it, in the spirit of love, of Him Who is the Source of Love, and Who is the ever-faithful refuge and friend of all that are sore beset and seek His aid with humble and contrite hearts. Amen.

God being truth, justice, goodness, beauty, power, and life, man is falsehood, iniquity, evil, ugliness, impotence, and death. God being master, man is the slave. Incapable of finding justice, truth, and eternal life by his own effort, he can attain them only through a divine revelation... he who desires to worship God must harbor no childish illusions about the matter, but bravely renounce his liberty and humanity.

The winter solstice has nothing to do with Jesus.
The winter solstice marks the shortest day/longest night of the year.

Actually this year it was the 20th. Doesn't matter it's still a Godless celebration.

I bumped into a pagan who tried to tell me that Jesus was born in the Spring. More tricks from the dark ones. They were also responsible for Helloween

For someone with (no offense) a rather suspect name you show some wisdom.

Now! Want to hear a Good one? I once heard some weirdo Proclaim that Jesus was really Born in.......July!

Also that the Baby Christ was actually a snail. I'm still looking into that one.....

Of course they were. Probably those pagans were responsible for everything you don't agree with, too.

Its just SO handy to have a scapegoat, huh.

"In 350, Pope Julius I declared that Christ’s birth would be celebrated on December 25. There is little doubt that he was trying to make it as painless as possible for pagan Romans (who remained a majority at that time) to convert to Christianity. The new religion went down a bit easier, knowing that their feasts would not be taken away from them."

I think its called 'pandering to the Christians.'
