I am not sure of the validity of this "research" Landover University has done since they do not use double-blind studies or use proper heuristics when conducting their research, however I must say that they may be on to something.

A couple years back there was a very rich computer software CEO that frequented the wine and cheese shop here in Berkeley where I go constantly (I do not eat cheese with my wine since it is an animal product and cruel to cattle, so I prefer to eat tofu or hummus with my pinot noir), but anyways, he seemed like a nice gentleman, always quick with the wit. He was very proud of his yellow Acura NSX and had it washed and waxed everyday. As it turns out, from what I read in the papers and from the owner of the wine store, this man was arrested for having thousands of child porn images on his computer and for trying to lure a 13 year old girl from Texas (actually an undercover FBI agent) to come see him for sex.

It really was a shame since he seemed like such a nice man (isn't that how it always works with child predators?). He did have somewhat of an obsession with his NSX...he often wore an Acura baseball cap. Strangely, your pseudo-scientific study might be right for once, but then again, a broken clock is right twice a day.

Father Mo, you seem to be an authority on child molestation, so please answer this: I know priests have taken a "vow of poverty" but how many fellow priests have owned (or at least wanted) an NSX? The Swiss Guard are known to prefer Alfa Romeos from what I hear, but what about the higher echelon of the Vatican that can afford such automobiles? How many cardinals get their kicks riding to mass in a NSX with an alter boy in the passenger seat?

I am not sure which is sadder... a bunch of cultist Baptwits demonising cars or a bunch of cultist car owners making the Baptwits look smart (no easy task) with their sad replies.

We real and original Christians do not ascribe Godliness to mass-market machinery nor do we ascribe demonic attributes to them... that would be just plain silly. Because cars are machines some will perform their duties differently than others but none are sinful by pure design.

Preferring a type or brand of car is fine but worshiping a car is a sin and needs repenting. There is nothing wrong with taking pride in your car and keeping it in good working order regardless of make or model as it shows respect for something you only own because God has given you the chance... this goes for riding mowers and motorcycles as well.


Here at The Vatican we have everything in walking distance and as such do not need cars outside of certain business requirements associated with Nation Statehood. On these occasions, as you can imagine, we go strictly German and have for years. If the Poles had come up with a decent ride I suspect we would have purchased quite a few under JPII but they never did and so one less beatification nominee.

For my private work (Priests have time of their own too) I have use of a my friend Donatella's red car. This allows me to visit her villa in Venice and effect repairs and restoration on her impressive art collection.

I am no automotive expert I tell you but that car of hers actually seems to make a laughing noise at most other cars... in particular Japanese and American ones!


If any of you lads are in the area with your ride give me a shout and we can go motoring... last one to Milano buys dinner!
