Hello everyone, the name's Jerry (my freinds call me Jer). Well i'm currently doing a course in RE and i am in the mist of writting a paper on the exsistance of God i need to ask a question and record the response. Ok heres the Question.

How do you know there is a god, as all you have as proof is the person who converted you, your parents or other family members. And where is the proof that the Bible is real, where is the proof that it is not just made up stories?

If you answer this please don't use the Bible as it would be biased and therefore invalid as an answer, and i'll get a crappy mark on my paper.

That argument relys on God being real, Because he is not then TAG does not work. Also i would take that link off of your signature, Citizens United and Not Timid because we all know what it spells.

If I may, let me post a story that I recently shared with a pastor here at LBC.

I admit, I wasn't always the good Christian man that I am today. I had times where I lacked faith in my younger years, as many young people do. I think it's the feeling of invincibility which is to blame for that. One day when I was young, one event changed that, however.

My father had an 18 wheeler that he used to haul grain to the river to sell his harvest. He had it parked on a hill one day, I was at the bottom of the hill sitting in a running tractor. I was watching my father walk towards me, down the hill, when suddenly I noticed something peculiar. There was a large object moving towards him quickly. It was his semi truck...he had forgotten to set the air brakes. I motioned to him, and as he turned around, he saw the semi barreling down at him. He jumped out of the way just in time, but I wasn't so lucky. I didn't want to jump out of the tractor, fearing that I would be killed, so I stayed in it. The semi truck smashed into the tractor, and I was thrown into the side window.

I escaped without injury, except for a lump on my noggin, but nothing was the same after that. All I could think about was how, if I hadn't been looking, that truck would've killed my father.

I apologize for the long story, Pastor, but it does have a happy ending. I went from having little faith to knowing, in my heart, that a miracle had occurred. From that day forth, I have had an unwavering faith in God. I believe that my father and I were blessed by Jesus Christ himself that day. These beliefs have made me the man I am today, and I chalk the shaky belief in God that I had in my younger years up to stupidity and youth.

The fact that God kept my father and I out of harm's way is how I know that He is real. I witnessed a miracle that day. Praise God!

I'm not here to mock you, i have more of a life than that my friend. anyways thing like that happen all the time, i've been hit my a car going 80 mph and there was so little damage i just got up after the hit and went home. I also know of one of the most holy men ever, he abided to the Bible and heeded every sentence, his whole family was killed in a fire. not only did he suffer the loss of his family but his face was very badly burnt, he refused to have any operation on his face saying that he was made in gods image and so will remain in gods image. A year after the accident he was killed in police shoot out with some insane cultists, he was on his way to church so he could pray. i hate telling this story because the man wasted his life and his family for something so little and meaningless as religion. He was given no pity, no mercy and he still loved God more than ever. I hope others don't take God as seriously as that man did.

I feel the exact opposite way. If more people believed in Jesus Christ like that, then we could turn this country around and save it from the evils of liberalized America. The man you speak of was being tested by God when He burned his family alive. It's uplifting to know that he was still a Holy man. And the fact that he was killed in a shootout was merely God's own creative way of calling him to Heaven. Praise God!

You were also saved by God that day you were hit by the car...you just don't know it yet. If the car was going 80 mph, then you could have easily been killed. If that were me, I would have dropped to my knees and praised the Lord that very second. Maybe you should rethink your stance on religion, as you might not be that fortunate a second time.

We know he's there, because we have faith, and he speaks to us daily. Just because he doesn't show up and say "Hey dude! Here's the answer to your prayer.", does not mean that he does not hear it. You ask how we know God is real and I ask you this...how do you know that he isn't real? Simply put, we do not have any concrete proof that he is not real, and therefore, we have faith in the fact that he is real. The key words in it all, are "having faith". Without faith, life is meaningless.
