WASILLA, Alaska - At an 11:00 a.m. press conference today, Governor Sarah Palin announced that she would not seek a second term as governor. The governor continued, saying that by the end of the month she would resign from the governorship.

On a day that most public employees have off, Palin sent out an early morning press release indicating that she would be giving an announcement from her home in Wasilla. Joining Palin were her parents, family and state commissioners.

Palin announced that she will transfer power to Lt. Governor Sean Parnell. Parnell will be sworn in during the upcoming governor's picnic in Fairbanks. An emotionally choked-up Parnell said he plans to keep all state commissioners and continue to pursue a natural gas pipeline.


Palin did not field questions and would not give any indications as to her future plans.


What's going on with this resignation?!? I thought she was a tough lady, staring down Putin and all that. Yet now she's cut and run because a photo SHE gave away to the public got photoshopped?

I'd say she's lost my vote. Bobby Jindal 2012!

UPDATE: And she's taking a shot at fellow republican Mark Sanford! Unforgivable!

As I thought about this announcement that I wouldn't run for re-election, and what that means for Alaska, I thought about how, well, how much fun some Governors have as lame ducks. They maybe travel around their state, travel to other states, maybe take their overseas international trade missions.

I have it on Good Authority that exGovernor Mother Sarah Palin has been approached by the Dominionist Party.

There is a very better than good chance that she will accept the Party's offer to subserviantly run as Rep. Tom Tancredo's 2012 VP candidate.

God has Promised that He will protect Rep. Tom Tancredo from librul snipers so that we don't get into a sticky position and have a woman elevated as President of Our Dominion. It is bad enough that they can become Governors and ministers at homo congregations.

Rep. Tancredo is another fine example of a Godly Republican. Sadly, he is just one of many and may or may not be the party’s presidential candidate.

However, I've been told by many that Mrs. Palin will carefully consider running on her own right or as a VP candidate. Those same authorities tell me that upon leaving office she will devote full time to her push toward higher office. In the meantime my sources tell me she is already spending her time wisely.

I fear that Todd may be deeply flawed. To wit:

-He wants Alaska to become independent from our beloved USA by his teasonous support for a seperation group.

-He suspect seed obviously contributed to the retard in the family.

-He has continually failed in keeping Sarah under close control, thus forsaking husbandly rights. However, had he done so, we would not have our beloved Sarah in all her glory so whether or not this is a flaw can be argued.

The Palin family is filled with the spirit and one must credit Todd for that just as Hellary Clinton gets credit for Bill's whoring ways.

Can you blame Todd for wanting to save Alaska from the liebrul Obama socialist thugs? Todd Palin is a patriot with a capital P. He clearly sees the direction the lower 48 is headed.

1. The laws should rule the government, not the other way around.

Todd Palin knows this. With all the activist judges we know where the US will end up.

2. The government should be the servant of the people, not the other way around.The people should serve Jesus. The founders intent was a strong Christian theocratic democracy. A true patriot like Todd knows that.

3. The best defense against danger of monarchial and democratic excesses was a "mixed government" of clearly prescribed spheres and balanced authorities.Today we have a socailist Obama nation. The days of freedom and liberty under our Godly George Bush are long gone. The Deomcrats are tyrants.
Sister Sarah is a brilliant woman. She has the intellectutual prowess of Ann Coulter and the godliness of Mrs Betty Bowers but she is still a woman.

I like Sister Sarah just as all True Christians do but deep down True Christians love Dick even more. I will say it right now. I agree with sister Ann regarding McCain. I didn't like him either. McCain is such a RINO. I used the Godly Palins to hide that fact. McCain needed Dick. America needs Dick not a woman.

Sarah Palin resigned as Governor of Alaska to cash in on the business opportunities presented by her new-found fame, the estranged boyfriend of her eldest daughter said yesterday.

Speculation over the real reasons behind Mrs Palin’s decision to quit has been swirling since her opaque and rambling resignation speech last Friday. A looming scandal, presidential ambitions and the draw of lucrative speaking and writing opportunities have all been cited.

Now Levi Johnston, whose wedding to Bristol Palin, 18, the mother of his infant son, was called off early this year, has told reporters that from what he witnessed while living at the Palin home, the lure of financial enrichment was the most likely explanation.

Mr Johnston, 19, whose relationship with the family has been strained since the break-up, said that he heard Mrs Palin talk on several occasions about her desire to take up some of the deals that she was being offered, including a reality television show and a tell-all book about her life.
“I think the big deal was the book. That was millions of dollars,” Mr Johnston told reporters during a news conference at his lawyer’s office in Anchorage.

Mrs Palin’s lawyers confirmed that she had signed a major book deal with HarperCollins, owned by the same parent company as The Times, but did not disclose how much it was worth. Her lawyers insisted that the book was the only offer that Mrs Palin had taken up.

Mrs Palin’s spokeswoman said: “It is interesting to learn Levi is working on a piece of fiction while honing his acting skills.” Mr Johnston is also pursuing his own book and movie deals based on his liaison with Mrs Palin’s daughter.

Mrs Palin has claimed to be facing outstanding legal fees of $500,000 (£310,000) related to investigations into her affairs and said last week that she was resigning in part to spare the state the cost of defending her against “nuisance” ethics inquiries.

Mrs Palin has attracted at least 19 ethics complaints, ranging from allegations of abuse of office in the dismissal of a state trooper to the filing of expense claims for travel to her home in Wasilla when she refused to live in the state capital of Juneau.

But many pundits, struggling to find a coherent political strategy behind her resignation, have already concluded that financial gain is the most convincing explanation.

As Governor, Mrs Palin earned an annual salary of $125,000 — a figure that, one commentator noted, she could earn in just two weeks as a public speaker.

Mrs Palin’s book deal, believed to be worth several millions of dollars, also offers her the chance to take command of her own narrative, after oft-expressed frustrations over her negative portrayal in the media.

Maybe Sister Sarah is out of politics (temporarily), but it seems she could be entering a new career as a singing star.
