Godly and Persecuted Utah GOP Leader Kevin Garn. Stepping down for the harmless, innocent crime of sharing a hot tub while naked with an underage female.
In another example of the liberals persecuting Godly Republican men in this day and age, Utah's house majority leader Kevin Garn has resigned following a confession he was once naked in a hot tub with a 15 year old girl more than 25 years ago.
But this is an absurd witch hunt. First off, this happened 25 years ago! Every man is tempted by the sins of the flesh, and he may have had some youthful indiscretions, so why are we holding him accountable for this? Doesn't Jesus teach us in the Bible to forgive those who have been led astray?
Also, who among us can honestly say they've never been alone, naked, in a hot tub, with a teenage girl? At the advice of my lawyer, I have no comment on that particular subject. But, you know who you are out there. Does not Matthew 7:1-5 teach us about the dangers of hypocritical judgment? How can you condemn a man for a sin which so many of us have committed?
Utah GOP leader resigns after hot tub confession
SALT LAKE CITY – Utah's House majority leader has resigned from the Legislature, two days after his confession about sitting nude in a hot tub with a teenage girl 25 years ago stunned the conservative state.
Republican Rep. Kevin Garn said Saturday that stepping down is in the best interests of his family, his colleagues and the people of Utah.
In an e-mail message to House Speaker David Clark, Garn apologized for becoming a distraction.
The 55-year-old Garn acknowledged the indiscretion late Thursday immediately after the Legislature adjourned for the session.
He says he paid the woman, Cheryl Maher, $150,000 to keep quiet about the episode when he unsuccessfully ran for Congress in 2002.
Maher was 15 and a legal minor when the hot tub incident occurred. The Salt Lake Tribune reports that Garn was 30.
