Question: Should We Pray For Terrorists?

I was recently contacted by THIS Army Reserve Chaplain and asked whether Landover Baptist church might want to join in the effort to Pray for Islamofascists. I'd like to see what some of the other Pastors and the True Christian™ Brothers think about his Godly proposal. Here's the story:

Ministry Launches 'Adopt a Terrorist' Prayer Campaign

(RNS) An Army Reserve chaplain has decided to do his individual part in the war on terror: He's co-founded an Internet ministry to pray for terrorists.

"Adopt a Terrorist for Prayer" was launched in March and features a catalog of photos of people designated by the FBI or the State Department as participants in or sponsors of terrorism.

"In a sense, it's a spiritual conflict and we're not using spiritual resources," said Thomas Bruce, a co-founder and spokesman for the ministry at www.myatfp.com. "I felt that the church of Jesus Christ was not engaged."

Bruce, whose ministry is based in Colorado Springs, Colo., said he was inspired to start the effort after attending a conference of Christian military ministries last year. Soon, he will have to leave the work to other co-founders -- who include a retired school administrator and a retired Coast Guard officer -- when he is deployed to Iraq.

Bruce's voice is on the two-minute YouTube video that promotes the idea of praying for terrorists:

"If they start converting, as did the Apostle Paul, then terrorism as a strategy for advancing militant Islam will fail and the whole world will know something spectacular about the one true God," he says in the video.

The Web site encourages readers to choose from a catalog of dozens of photos of people labeled as "at-large" or "captured" terrorists or terrorism sponsors. Each photo includes a link to more information, such as an FBI poster.

"Select and pray daily for a change in the heart of your chosen terrorist!" the site recommends. "Enlist others to join this initiative!"

Bruce said he has received mostly positive reactions to the project.

"Some people are very enthusiastic and can't wait to participate," he said. "No one has told me that it's stupid or wrong, but some have told me it won't be for them."
I'll be interested in hearing what others think about this. I personally have mixed feelings. His point about converting mudslime scum over to our side is a valid one, but there are also many scriptures to consider.

    Proverbs 6
[16] These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him:
[17] A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood,
[18] An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief,
[19] A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.

Mudslimes clearly fall into every category listed above among things that God hates. God doesn't say to pray for them.

But those mine enemies, which would not that I should reign over them, bring hither, and slay them before me.--Luke 19:27

And as Revelation 19:2 makes clear, those who rejoice at the demise of God's enemies are impelled by a desire to uphold the righteous judgment of God. That is, they're more concerned with God's justice and righteousness than they are with the welfare of wicked individuals. They are careful not to reverse the order of the first and the second great commandments: loving God with all of one's heart and then loving one's neighbor as oneself.

It seems to me at first blush that praying for sand nigras could get Him pretty angry at us....What do you think?
    Who Will Jesus Damn?

Here is a partial list from just a few scripture verses:

Hypocrites (Matthew 24:51), The Unforgiving (Mark 11:26), Homosexuals (Romans 1:26, 27), Fornicators (Romans 1:29), The Wicked (Romans 1:29), The Covetous (Romans 1:29), The Malicious (Romans 1:29), The Envious (Romans 1:29), Murderers (Romans 1:29), The Deceitful (Romans 1:29), Backbiters (Romans 1:30), Haters of God (Romans 1:30), The Despiteful (Romans 1:30), The Proud (Romans 1:30), Boasters (Romans 1:30), Inventors of evil (Romans 1:30), Disobedient to parents (Romans 1:30), Covenant breakers (Romans 1:31), The Unmerciful (Romans 1:31), The Implacable (Romans 1:31), The Unrighteous (1Corinthians 6:9), Idolaters (1Corinthians 6:9), Adulterers (1Corinthians 6:9), The Effeminate (1Corinthians 6:9), Thieves (1Corinthians 6:10), Drunkards (1Corinthians 6:10), Reviler (1Corinthians 6:10), Extortioners (1Corinthians 6:10), The Fearful (Revelation 21:8), The Unbelieving (Revelation 21:8), The Abominable (Revelation 21:8), Whoremongers (Revelation 21:8), Sorcerers (Revelation 21:8), All Liars (Revelation 21:8)

Re: Question: Should We Pray For Terrorists?

    Saving sinners is what Jesus is all about – the blacker the sin, the more they need the prayer. M't:5:44: But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;
M't:5:45: That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.
M't:5:46: For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same?
M't:5:47: And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not even the publicans so?
M't:5:48: Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.

It is my fervent belief that few could deny that the initiative proposed by the good Army Reserve chaplain, Thomas Bruce, will be even more effective than The War Against Terror (TWAT) so far waged.

And if the heathens won’t listen first time; put then to the sword, I can't disagree with you Pastor, and Lu:19:27: is good by me

Re: Question: Should We Pray For Terrorists?

Wait, I'm confused. If you do this "adopting a terrorist thing", do you get a Muslim to keep in a cage in your house? Because that sounds like it could be kind of funky to me. As to whether we should pray for them, well:
Proverbs 25:21 If thine enemy be hungry, give him bread to eat; and if he be thirsty, give him water to drink:
22 For thou shalt heap coals of fire upon his head, and the LORD shall reward thee.

This point is so important that it's repeated in the NT:

Romans 12:20 Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head.

By helping and praying for our enemies, we heap burning coals upon their heads. That's why I'm going to log off this computer and go pray for that terrorist Baraq Osama right now!
O Lord our God, help us to tear their soldiers to bloody shreds with our shells; help us to cover their smiling fields with the pale forms of their patriot dead; help us to drown the thunder of the guns with the shrieks of their wounded, writhing in pain; help us to lay waste their humble homes with a hurricane of fire; help us to wring the hearts of their unoffending widows with unavailing grief; help us to turn them out roofless with little children to wander unfriended the wastes of their desolated land in rags and hunger and thirst, sports of the sun flames of summer and the icy winds of winter, broken in spirit, worn with travail, imploring Thee for the refuge of the grave and denied it--for our sakes who adore Thee, Lord, blast their hopes, blight their lives, protract their bitter pilgrimage, make heavy their steps, water their way with their tears, stain the white snow with the blood of their wounded feet! We ask it, in the spirit of love, of Him Who is the Source of Love, and Who is the ever-faithful refuge and friend of all that are sore beset and seek His aid with humble and contrite hearts. Amen.

God being truth, justice, goodness, beauty, power, and life, man is falsehood, iniquity, evil, ugliness, impotence, and death. God being master, man is the slave. Incapable of finding justice, truth, and eternal life by his own effort, he can attain them only through a divine revelation... he who desires to worship God must harbor no childish illusions about the matter, but bravely renounce his liberty and humanity.

Well! Biblically sound, proposed by one of our own men in (semi) uniform, endorsed by our Godly Landover Pastors--what more persuasion could a True Christian(tm) need? As soon as I post this reply, I'm going right over to our private non-denominational Baptist chapel to begin my prayers!

Thank you for a wonderful idea! Praise!
Mark 16:17 And these attesting signs will accompany those who believe: in My Name they will drive out demons.

1 Kings 21:14 Then they sent to Jezebel, saying, Naboth is stoned . . .

        A SPIRITUAL WARFARE PRAYER:
Father, In Jesus' Name, I take the Blood of Jesus and break the power of all witches, warlocks, wizards, satanists, sorcerers, wiccans, pagans, and any other source, and all of their rituals off of us. With the Blood of Jesus, I erase all evil lines drawn on our liver. . .

Wait, I'm right in thinking that "for in so doing" means "at the same time as doing that". I only mention this as I have a bucket of burning coals to hand (Damn it's hot.)
