  • Atheists petition against free speech/Pulpit Freedom Sunday

Pulpit Freedom Sunday is October 7 this year. I know I'll be telling my flock for whom to vote!

Along with about 1,000 other pastors in the country.

As we all know, IRS regulations forbid us from endorsing candidates in an "official" capacity, or we lose non-profit status. But they don't enforce it, and won't enforce it, so we are working to get this unjust law overturned. We demand our right to free speech!

God-hating atheists have a petition to the President, both chambers of Congress, and the IRS demanding that they revoke tax-exempt status of all churches who endorse Romney!

And the atheist who created it also urges people to submit complaints to the IRS using their Complaint Form.

I note that the IRS has no "Oppression by Atheist God-Haters" complaint form. This is because they are partisan and anti-Christian.

Tell all of your friends just how much atheists hate free speech!

I can't believe it. Over 300 people have signed that weenie's petition to revoke the tax-exempt status of fine congregations like Landover Baptist and Second Baptist.

This is horrifying. Nearly 700 whiny little b*tches have signed on to that petition trying to get the IRS to revoke tax exemption of churches who endorse candidates.

Are you sure you are all telling your friends and neighbors to fight this thing?

I had a look on the website at those supporting this creeping socialism: all except Loretta Viner of Bethesda, MD were previously known to the Depaartment of Faith as trouble-making Unamericans! Ms Viner, who (laughably) describes hereself as "a pastor" (she's a woman!) is now known.

Thank you for the October 7th reminder, Reverend. I pray for the Pastors of OUR country to be courageous and speak up on that day.

            hey there!

i googled to see if there is a petition to call on the government to revoke your tax exempt status for endorsing a particular political candidate this coming sunday.

personally, i can't vote because i'm not a citizen, but i find your sense of entitlement hilarious.

your tax exempt status is a privilege, not a right, and jesucristo taught us to render unto caesar, that which is caesar's and render unto god, that which is god's.

even your streamlined bible that had books thrown out by martin luther, despite the clear warnings in revelations to neither take away from, or add to the scriptures say so.

but then, we are talking about a monk who broke his vow of celibacy to marry and nun who broke hers as well and then proceeded to author a scathing book entitled "on the jews and their lies" which created anti-semitism in europe so strong that it set the tone for the holocaust centuries later.

since you don't pay taxes, you aren't rendering unto caesar, that which is his, and since you follow luther rather than jesus, it is apparent that you don't render unto god that which is his as well.

but hopefully one or the other or both will change soon because upon my search, not only did you provide me with a link to the petition, but also one to a complaint for to the IRS, which i have shared with everyone i know.

            bless your heaaaaaaaaaart!

Yes, and in this case it's Caesar (the government) trying to take what is God's (by taxing the churches).

Wrong denomination. These are Baptists, not Lutherans.

As far as the Bible being inaccurate as to the Perfect and Eternal Will of God:

The Bible says God is infallible, Omnipotent and omniscient. If the Bible does not accurately portray God's Will, either:

              1) God does not care if we receive His accurate instructions for salvation, so doesn't really care if we get saved or not, and is thus unworthy of worship,

              2) God doesn't know the Bible has been corrupted, in which case he is not omniscient and is thus unworthy of worship, or

              3) God is unable to instantly change every Bible in the world reflects His will accurate, in which case He is not omnipotent and is thus worthy of worship, or

              4) God does not exist.

Which of the possibilities do you think is true?

              ...bless your heaaaaaaaaaart!

Errr, no. They're Baptists. They've been around a lot longer than Protestants. Ever hear of a guy called John the Baptist?

And I'm atheist, btw. Check the awards the mods here have "blessed" me with (beside my name on every post).

...well, first off, you're using an incomplete bible...
So why doesn't supposedly omnipotent God do anything about that? See previous post for the question you didn't answer.

...second, the concept of solo scriptura isn't scriptural, which is why it isn't in the bible...
If the Bible isn't 100% accurate, then the whole concept of "Scripture" is moot. In that case, we're all just pulling it out of our asses and making it up as we go along (like the Catholics do).

...so your myopic views of the possibilities are as incomplete as your bible is, bless your heart.

Hahahaha that always cracks me up. But anyway, if the Catholic Bible (which one are you talking about, anyway?) is accurate but the King James isn't, why hasn't omnipotent God done anything about that (see my previous x2 post for the question you still haven't answered)?

The papists added to the Bible, and that's a no-no:

(Revelation 22:18-19) "For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book."
