    Indiana Republican: When life begins from rape, "God intended" it

    Richard Mourdock, the Republican candidate for the U.S. Senate in Indiana, said in a debate on Tuesday that "even when life begins with that horrible situation of rape, that is something that God intended to happen."

    The quote was, "The only exception I have to have an abortion is in that case of the life of the mother," Mourdock said. "I struggled with it myself for a long time, but I came to realize that life is that gift from God and I think even when life begins in that horrible situation of rape that it is something God intended to happen."

    There were, of course, demonstrations of staged outrage and crocodile tears from the usual suspect (demoncrats, lesbians, etc.) but here was something that needed saying - a refreshing blast of honesty in an increasingly cynical world.

    Who cannot grasp that God is responsible for EVERYTHING!?

    Are you in Indiana? Vote for Mourdock - a candidate who is head and shoulders about the rest. A man who will bring Spiritual Hope to America with the Flag and the Cross!

    If He had not intended to cause it, then why would He have invented the Roofie and GHB?? Case CLOSED.

        Once again it falls to a Republican hero to lift his head over the paraquat to say what we have all been thinking.

        If a woman is raped it is because God wills it: the alleged pain, humiliation, psychological and physical trauma (if real) is proof of God in action.

        God knows exactly what needs to done ALL THE TIME! If he sends the beautiful gift of life via aggressive humiliation and degradation WHO ARE WE to gainsay this?

        When God makes conscious decision to have a woman raped, to go through pain and humiliation and trauma (if real) and then to carry the reminder of said trauma in her dirty stove for 7 months and then feel the God given pain of birthing and then for the rest of her life when she looks into the eyes of her precious gift she instead sees the eyes of her rapist staring back at her then God must have a DARN GOOD REASON!

        Like Dick, I have spent a great deal of time cogitating over rape and womenand women being raped and in my research I found that the women are often hysterical and are the last person who should be called on to make any decision on these matters.

        For all we know God planned to have a hypothetical woman raped so that the emotional distance between her and her child and the contempt the child holds for her mother for her coldness was part of a divine plan to allow a hypothetical psychologist to write a brief paper (unpublished) about attachment theory.

        All I'm say is that some things which seem bad are infact positive. God knows best.

        Thank God for the freedom of speach to let decent Christian Republicans like ole Dick to set the record straight.

          The good news is, we Republicans are bringing change. If we can retain good sized majorities in Congress, we will be able reduce sentences on rape convictions to something reasonable.

          When you look at the big picture, rape is not something men should do hard time for. Often, it was provoked by the woman. Other times, it results in a wonderful baby boy. Always, it was something God wanted to happen.

            It's a well known fact that a man will not go near a woman (I know I won't) unless they make some kind of effort to look presentable.

            Who is the criminal here?

              I will be praying for our brave Brother Mourdock, just as I pray daily for Brother Todd Akin and Brother Paul Broun. America needs more legislators who are willing to put God first. Amen!

                  The fact that this was ever even open for debate shows how many unbelievers there are in America.

                  Proverbs 16:33: The lot is cast into the lap; but the whole disposing thereof [is] of the LORD.

                  God, being omniscient, knows whenever a rape is about to take place. Being omnipotent, He has no problem stopping either the rape itself or the pregnancy if He so chooses.

                    I just don't get why people are offended.

                    Don't they understand what it means for God to be all-knowing and all-powerful?

                    It means He must know that a woman is about to be raped, and able to stop it.

                    It means He must also know she will get pregnant.

                    Finally, it means He must choose to allow it to happen.

                    That means it is HIS WILL!
                    Bible boring? Nonsense!
                    Try Bible in a Year with Brother V, or join Shirlee and the kids as they discuss Real Bible Stories!

                      Only those who have not accepted His true Word are offended.

                      "God blessed them, and God said to them, 'Be fruitful and multiply'" - Genesis 1:28

                      The filling of the Earth is a gift of God's wisdom and shows forth his glory as Creator (Ps. 104:24, 31; Isa. 6:3).

                      I don't see ANY qualifiers here, so there are none.

                        Women who are at home minding the children, darning socks, preparing meals and wearing sensible attire DO NOT get raped. This whole "rape" debate is a lot of theoretical nonsense about a few edge cases. In general, women who do not want to get raped do not get raped. Those 1 in 6 who do get raped are victims who believe they are entitled to government justice, government healthcare (abortion) and who refuse to take care of themselves. It's not our job to worry about them.

                              Quite so. In our free market economy, if women valued NOT getting raped, they would purchase some sort of rape prevention service. Why are we trying to stifle that potential for economic development?
