Growing up, I went to CCD, and was always taught that the Lord would wish us to love one another.

Reading things like this is the reason I refuse to cater to an organized religion.

Indeed, it's not the outside that matters but the inside. The only thing that those who oppose Goth do is focusing on the outside, how Goths dress or how there make-up is but rarely they think about the inner thoughts of these people. They don't realize that the cloths don't make the person, it's how they are inside. Many people in "normal" cloths committed some of the worlds most horrifying things.
