How do you know what Jesus is fine with? Does it ever concern you that Jesus might not be fine with what you do? You've told us your favorite passage, but you haven't said outright whether you're a Christian. Where do you stand with God?

Hey everybody!

Concerning the alcohol: Jesus turned water into wine and shared it, so he's clearly cool with that. And Pastafarian: Yeah i know, caffeine in tea and coffee (which i don't like at all) is technically a drug. But if you go there, then sugar is a drug too (and that i like pretty much). And no, it's not alcohol free, but it's tradition here to make a toast with a glass of wine on someone's birthday. And that's almost the only time i ever drink.

William: you're absolutely right, classical music is not my field of expertise. if i had the time at the moment to read further into it, i'd really like to do that and discuss it with you, but i have to nail my degree in my real field of expertise in 2 weeks :S

And why do people on here judge people by their countrymen? I don't judge you by yours. I mean, I guess you know who's your president and what your fellow countrymen like to do and so do I

I know that the Bible condemns drunkenness (1 Corinthians 5:11; 6:9-11; Gal. 5:19-21). But a glass of wine to celebrate a birthday does not get me (i'm 200 Pounds) drunk the tiniest bit. WINE IN THE BIBLE COULD BE EITHER ALCOHOLIC OR NON-ALCOHOLIC. Vineyards were extremely prevalent in Palestine, and the wine from them was a part of the staple diet of the Hebrews. Generally when wine is mentioned it has no sinful connotations. Wine could be drunk freely by the Israelites. It was to be offered to the Priests as drink offering, and abundance of wine was considered to be a great blessing (Deut. 7:13). The prosperity of the Land of Canaan was measured by the size of its grapes (Numbers 13:23).

I'm a member of a small church mostly focusing on the teachings of Martin Luther. But we don't like to be called Lutherans, because we don't agree with the definition of Lutheranism you find e.g. on wikipedia.

For everyone who isn't familiar with Martin Luther's life story and accomplishments like first translate the Bible into a common language during the middle ages and giving the first smack in catholic's face by starting the reformation I can recommend this article:

Uh, no. Wyclif's Bible appeared in English well over a century before Luther was born, and bits and pieces of the Bible had been translated into Old and Middle English centuries before that. There well may have been others working in other languages (but I concentrate on the English versions).

Also, no. The Catholics have been getting smacked in the face for their heresies since before they were even founded (read some on the early history of the Church, and how many groups they absorbed/assimilated/destroyed in their efforts to make Rome supreme), and this has continued throughout their blood-stained history.
