So the Catholic Church would like you to believe.

Their treatment of dissenting individuals and groups (and there have been many, from the earliest days through to the present) is one of the greatest embarassments for an institution supposedly founded on the principles of peace, love, and charity, so it's no wonder that knowledge of those events has been suppressed.

Read up on the Cathars for some insight.

For everyone who isn't familiar with Martin Luther's life story and accomplishments like first translate the Bible into a common language during the middle ages and giving the first smack in catholic's face by starting the reformation I can recommend this article:

Doesn't make it a lie, just an unprecise statement.

Incorrect is the word you were looking for.
"Unprecise" would have been if you had said "I have about 50 tabs of acid left" when you in fact had 54.

You either do, or you do not, take drugs, so a statement to that effect can be either correct or incorrect, there is no room for it to be imprecise.

I'm a member of a small church mostly focusing on the teachings of Martin Luther. But we don't like to be called Lutherans, because we don't agree with the definition of Lutheranism you find e.g. on wikipedia.

Martin Luther was not a Christian. A Christian is someone who trusts in Jesus (Jn 3:16). Martin Luther did not trust Jesus.

“I have greater confidence in my wife and my pupils than I have in Christ” (Table Talk, 2397b)

He committed blasphemy.

“Christ committed adultery first of all with the women at the well about whom St. John tell’s us. Was not everybody about Him saying: ‘Whatever has He been doing with her?’ Secondly, with Mary Magdalen, and thirdly with the women taken in adultery whom He dismissed so lightly. Thus even, Christ who was so righteous, must have been guilty of fornication before He died.” (Trishreden, Weimer Edition, Vol. 2, Pg. 107)

“I look upon God no better than a scoundrel” (Weimar, Vol. 1, Pg. 487. Cf. Table Talk, No. 963)

He supported polygamy and adultery (Gen 2:24; Mat 5:27-28).

"I confess that I cannot forbid a person to marry several wives, for it does not contradict the Scripture" (De Wette, 2.459).

"They are fools who attempt to overcome temptations [to lust] by fasting, prayer and chastisement. He was proud and arrogant (Prov 6:18-19).

(Table Talk in De Wette, 5.188; De Wette was a protestant scholar who collected the most significant sayings of Luther in several volumes).

But True Christians(tm) are perfect.

He rejected the writings of Moses (especially the Ten Commandments), the books of Esther and Jonah, Hebrews, the Epistle of James, and Revelation.

Jesus said, "If thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments" (Mat 19:17); and "Had ye believed Moses, ye would have believed me; for he wrote of me. But if ye believe not his writings, how shall ye believe my words?" (Jn 5:46-47). See also You can’t be a Christian if you don’t believe the Old Testament. By rejecting Moses, Luther rejected Jesus. If he did not keep the commandments, he won't be in heaven. Moses, however, will be (Lk 9:30-31; Jude 9). Luther believed the Bible had contradictions. Clearly, he didn't trust it entirely and didn't trust God to communicate and preserve His Word to man. And who made Luther a judge of the canon of Scripture? Why should we trust his judgement? How did he know which parts to accept and which to reject? His rejection of Revelation guarantees his damnation (Rev 22:19).

He was also highly superstitious.

Are these the teachings you follow? Does the real Luther strike you as a Godly man? Doesn't it worry you that this is the man who founded your church? There is a lot of myth surrounding Luther. Ultimately, he was a cherry picker. He only followed the parts of the Bible he liked. His teachings were only partly based on the Bible, not grounded in the context of the whole of God's Word. He was not a man of great faith. He trusted his wife more than Christ and didn't have enough faith to believe the book of Jonah (I don't know why). He was a boastful, intemperate, superstitious man. So do you follow the teachings of Luther, or the teachings of the Bible?
