He's using an example. Plus, not EVERYONE is fluent in American, far less YOU.
I'm not a native speaker of it myself, so usually use English, which is mutually intelligible (mostly) with American.

The Kiwi's use of Abo is perfectly fine for illustrative purposes Mon Petit Chou.

The Pastors of Landover Baptist Church are truly beneficent! No race, no matter how vile and disgusting (I think we even have some fins and jews) is banned, as long as they are properly respectful to their betters.
