It's very easy for a woman to be slutty even though they're dressed modestly. Look at Japanese geisha, they advertise their wares by top to toe coverings that display secret meanings. Certain looks, the way you carry yourself, the way you smile, it all conveys messages. Modesty is more than clothes deep, it's a way of life.

They must have been doing something to disobey God then. He doesn't allow women who follow His commandments to the letter to be raped but He may (a pastor will need to confirm this) use rape as a punishment for disobedience.

Then how will the justice system work? For free? Lawyers, judges, prison guards, police, etc. will all just do everything out of the goodness of their hearts for without pay?

If a woman gets herself raped, she should pay for a rape kit. It's unconscionable to pass the buck onto innocent taxpayers. I didn't rape anybody, nor get raped, so why should I have to pay for her rape kit?

Folks, I learned something about our sister Sarah Palin today. Back when sister Palin was mayor of that quaint little town, she decided to charge the rape victims for the rape kit that was used by the police on them. I know this is the sort of thing that gets liberals all riled up, but have you ever pondered why a woman might get raped anyway? Perhaps sister Palin's Christian wisdom helped her to realize that some hussies ask for it and shouldn't automatically be given "victim" status? YOUR THOUGHTS???

In a way, I agree. Girls dressing like complete sluts is absolutely unacceptable, especially with parents teaching their daughters at ages as young as 1 to be in "beauty pagents", getting them all dolled up with frilly exposing dresses and swimwear... Repulsive.

wooow I can't believe what I'm reading. 1st I see the title by my s/n as "unsaved trash" which How can anybody here even know whats in my heart besides GOD, then I read the racist comments, jokes, views on women and now claiming that the Bible condones rape? ohh man you all better repent quick. The verse that was cited Deuteronomy 22:28-29 has been twisted. In those days (Old Testament) women had to be virgins in order to be married.

"In those days" sounds a tad dismissive to me. In those days, God was laying out His Holy Word and dealing with His people very directly. The way things were in those days -- "She could not earn her own money but had to rely on a man for support, weather it be her father or husband. If a woman was not a virgin she was left alone." was the way God WANTED it. God was telling it like it is, and people were living as He told them to do.

And yet, from the way you write about it, one might assume that you approve, understand or generally accept that the world is NOT arranged as God so clearly instructed in His Word. But you talk about God and believing that He loves you and so forth-- where did you pick up those notions if not from the same Bible that tells us, implicitly and explicitly, that a woman IS supposed to be a virgin and dependant on her father etc.? And then goes on to detail exactly how matters are to be dealt with in a virgin daughter is raped. How do you justify waving your Bible in our faces insisting that God loves you (or that He is real for that matter) when you are suggesting that the social norms in place back then were not as God Himself wanted them to be practiced by His followers who were being given the Bible, by God, for their instruction?

"Oh boy, you all better repent quick" you say. Why? Are you going to sic "your" God on us? And for what sin? For reading the Bible and taking it at its word? We aren't the ones tacitly claiming that "these days" as opposed to "those days" are better when nearly every modern social convention that you can point your finger at-- women's rights to vote, travel unaccustomed, earn and keep private income, give away their virginity and marry as they please or not marry and have sex anyway-- are not part of a lifestyle described, supported or approved of in the Bible.

No, the Bible makes it quite clear that rape is a serious property crime against a father or husband and that it creates an economic and social problem that must be managed.

God doesn't make any blatant statements about how rape hurts women's tender feelings and that men are automatically out of His favor for doing it. In fact, as you go on to point out

In those days the rapist was punished by making him marry the victim and made to support her.

Exactly! God -- remember Him? Holy, Perfect, Unchanging?-- Decreed that the man's responsibility was to support her, and have sex with her for the rest of their lives as part of his responsibility as her husband. God doesn't suggest prison, castration, or flogging for him or counselling for her. They are to get married and settle the matter of unapproved sexual relations forthwith!

And I love how you say "[i]n those days" again, like the people who believed in God back then were,--I don't know ,wrong?-- in how they handled things--when they were following the Bible. A point that you imply once AGAIN with :

Fifty shekels of silver was a very substantial fine as at that time a shekel was a measurement of weight and not an actual coin. So clearly the Bible does not condone rape and instead outlines different degrees of punishment and fines to be brought against the man guilty of raping a woman. In fact the punishment for rape in the Old Testament was usually much more severe than rape is punished in today’s society.

Again, I get a kick from how, once more, you pretty much talk out of both sides of your mouth by implying that the old (Biblical) ways were flawed because a woman couldn't own property, etc, but shore up your opinion by stating that the Bible doesn't "condone" rape.

The question you should ask yourself is: In what exact way does the Bible "condemn" rape? It's not an automatic ticket to hell, or to being cast out of the community. It's never referred to as an abomination, such as homosexual activity or eating certain unclean foods. And despite what you wrote about a possible death sentence, that's only levied in very specific circumstances, with the woman's emotional response being way down on the list of contributing factors.

So go ahead and call me fluffy or whatever words you may feel because its amusing to me to see what insults and false teachings you will throw out there.

Not only are you a "nibble on the tasty Bible parts and discard the bitter truths of His Holy Unchanging Word" fluffy bunny Christian, but you have displayed fluffy logic as well. I could see how this could isolate you from hard-core Bible Believers and earn you pity from atheists alike.

And no True Christian would think about "twisting" Deuteronomy 22 or any other book of the Bible, for that matter. We have too much respect for its power. We stand behind it and hold it up so that it may speak for itself. You, on the other hand, seem determined to speak for your own self and the tailored-to-fit form of Christianity that allows you to have the comfort to believe God loves you (more than us, probably) even as you live a modern life that is far removed from God's Own Ordinances, while you remove page after page of the text that tells you exactly how to live for God rather than yourself.

And you call us "false prophets".
