  • Re: Is smoking marijuana a sin?

btw for those who wanna question my salvation, i am a firm believer in Christ and I have tasted and seen that the Lord is good. As devoted followers of Christ we need to and must discus topics like this, or predestination, and many other topics in a Godly and healthy manor not based on what we believe but rather what God says and what his word says, not how we want to interpret it and make it sound to be like. We should be able to love one another and share our thoughts on things.

Please make a thread of your own in the "Introductions" section of the forum, so that we can properly greet you. Tell us about yourself, your church, and how you came to find Jesus.

And if you're here to flame us, better take a look at THIS before making an even bigger ass out of yourself.

Well, I haven't read all 52 pages of this topic, but I want to express how I feel on this subject.
I know that God established our governments and that we should obey them. But people who work in the governments don't always consider God. It just doesn't make sense to me that it's ILLEGAL in the United States and LEGAL in Amsterdam.
My point is that if I stay home and smoke marijuana is it a sin? And if I go to Amsterdam (just an example location; I don't know where else it is legal), I'm not sinning when I smoke marijuana?

Now, I do think that some things when it comes to being a good Christian and following Christ may have been misinterpreted and misunderstood for a long time, maybe even hundreds of years. And this may be the cause of the arguments between us Christian brothers and sisters. Our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who lives in us and was given to us by God. We do not belong to ourselves, for God bought us with a high price. So we must honor God with our bodies(1 Corinthians 6:19-20). This has been suggested to me that this refers to smoking/drinking as well as sexual sin. However, this section of 1 Corinthians was concentrating on sexual sin.

I do believe that getting drunk and being an alcoholic is a sin, because you can't function as you should to do God's work properly. But marijuana doesn't have the same effect on your mind. I can still think when I smoke marijuana. But now, after I am finished with this post, I will bring a test upon myself and smoke marijuana and listen for God and what the Holy Spirit will tell me. If God is with me, then I shall not fall. I'm just trying to figure this out so that us Christians may be able to put this argument to rest. All I want is for all of us to be at peace and love one-another and to follow our Lord. I know that's what we're all trying to do. I'm a rather new Christian (only a couple years REALLY believing in God), and I am not too clear on practices of the chruch. I am a 16 year old boy living in a non-Christian family (dad's rule: no preaching in the house). I feel so blessed by God and amazed that he called me out to follow him. And I'm also deeply troubled because I see many of friends and classmates who seem to have little faith. I pray that I may see them in the kingdom of God when that time comes. If anyone has any advice/help for me, I am willing to listen to it and test it.

            God bless you all...

I'm going to stop you right there. I'll repeat what I said to you dope heads back on page 43. Even if it's legal it doesn't edify the LORD.

                1 Corinthians 10:23
All things are lawful for me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but all things edify not.

                1 Corinthians 10:31
Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.

                1 Thessalonians 5:4-8
But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief. Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.
Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober.
For they that sleep sleep in the night; and they that be drunken are drunken in the night.
But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation.

                1 Peter 4:7
But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer.

                Titus 2:12
                Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;
Christians are superior because we possess an understanding that unbelievers lack. It is through the Power of Jesus only the converted mind is able to understand what is going on in the world; what the Communists are really up to; what Satan's intentions are. Most unbelievers do not even believe in Satan and cannot understand his tactics.

In this day and age, it is always wonderful to see the prophecies of Jesus come true. Glory!

                  Luke 12:52-53
For from henceforth there shall be five in one house divided, three against two, and two against three.
The father shall be divided against the son, and the son against the father; the mother against the daughter, and the daughter against the mother; the mother in law against her daughter in law, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.

It is a terrible shame that your father hasn't been chosen by GOD to be saved; but when you get to heaven, do not let the fact that your father is in Hell upset you. It would be very difficult to enjoy heaven if we were grieving for those in Hell now, wouldn't it?

It may seem unfair, however I'm certain the LORD has good reason for inflicting infinite punishment upon people He Himself chose not to save. I thank God everyday that He chose me to be one of the lucky few -- and so should you.

                  Ephesians 1:4-5
According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:
Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,

God wants everybody. Its our choice whether to accept him or not. my father is chosen, juts like every single man, woman and child on this earth. he justs needs to realize that God wants him to believe in Him and my dad needs to make the choice to come to Christ.

That's what the Bible tells us. If your father dropped dead tomorrow, he would go to Hell. You wouldn't be able to pray him out of there, or change places with him.

God gave us free will. If anyone wants to be saved, they can be. They just have to come to Jesus. God doesn't just choose who he wants. He created us all for a reason. He wouldn't do it to just send a soul to hell. I'll pray for a miracle that my family will be saved. I do realize that if he did die tomorrow, he would go to hell.

Not only does God limit those who are called, but among those who are called, few are chosen.
