    About reading ungodly books.

    Friends,

my mother always learned me to be curious. To read and know a lot. Not with the aim to filth my mind but to have great knowledge of your enemies. Sinners and Satan. To be able to recognise, avoid and foresee their cunning tricks and traps to lead you away from the right path.

So that's what I did. Read a lot. The sinful things to even the unspeakable disgusting things.

To find thruth one has to suffer.

I still believe that you have to know your enemies very well to be able to fight them.

But Brother Temperance made me aware of a more practical problem last week.

    And I quote:

So true. One can never be too careful with those dangerous books.

Off course i don't want to catch a filthy disease reading these books. But still I don't want to give up my quest to understand the slick and hidden tricks of satan.

Suddenly I reminded my late grandmother (God bless her) on evenings when she was telling bible stories to me while fixing my grandfathers clothes. She used a similar device to protect her fingers from a stitch of the needle.

And suddenly I knew the solution to be able to continue my quest without catching any ugly disease.

Hallelujah and I hope this will be of any help for you.

    Yours,

    Juliette

Praise Jesus. While I disapprove of people reading secular books, or women performing any activity more intellectually complex than baking a cake, you seem to have more or less the right attitude. What despicable filth have you been reading of late?
O Lord our God, help us to tear their soldiers to bloody shreds with our shells; help us to cover their smiling fields with the pale forms of their patriot dead; help us to drown the thunder of the guns with the shrieks of their wounded, writhing in pain; help us to lay waste their humble homes with a hurricane of fire; help us to wring the hearts of their unoffending widows with unavailing grief; help us to turn them out roofless with little children to wander unfriended the wastes of their desolated land in rags and hunger and thirst, sports of the sun flames of summer and the icy winds of winter, broken in spirit, worn with travail, imploring Thee for the refuge of the grave and denied it--for our sakes who adore Thee, Lord, blast their hopes, blight their lives, protract their bitter pilgrimage, make heavy their steps, water their way with their tears, stain the white snow with the blood of their wounded feet! We ask it, in the spirit of love, of Him Who is the Source of Love, and Who is the ever-faithful refuge and friend of all that are sore beset and seek His aid with humble and contrite hearts. Amen.

God being truth, justice, goodness, beauty, power, and life, man is falsehood, iniquity, evil, ugliness, impotence, and death. God being master, man is the slave. Incapable of finding justice, truth, and eternal life by his own effort, he can attain them only through a divine revelation... he who desires to worship God must harbor no childish illusions about the matter, but bravely renounce his liberty and humanity.

Every book different from the KJV 1611 bible I would consider filthy. But in these dark part of the world (Europe) it's almost impossible to find a copy.

In awaiting I decided to study the greatest sinners first. (And slowly working towards salvation).

So now I'm reading some ungodly french writers like Baudelaire and Rimbaud.

I also read American writers but I didn't found some godly things there. Douglas Coupland, Brett Easton Ellis, ... Nothing but filthys sins.

      Can you advise me something?

        Miss Juliette,

While I applaud your feeble efforts to do the right thing and abandon the filthy secular books you have been reading,
        I must caution you.

Finger condoms are NOT the answer! They will not stop the AIDS anymore than any other false measures. Jesus hands out the AIDS as He sees fit. He also keeps us free of the queer diseases, as He sees fit.

You females are so child-like. Reading Rimbaud when you should be reading Betty Crocker.
        Who Will Jesus Damn?

Here is a partial list from just a few scripture verses:

Hypocrites (Matthew 24:51), The Unforgiving (Mark 11:26), Homosexuals (Romans 1:26, 27), Fornicators (Romans 1:29), The Wicked (Romans 1:29), The Covetous (Romans 1:29), The Malicious (Romans 1:29), The Envious (Romans 1:29), Murderers (Romans 1:29), The Deceitful (Romans 1:29), Backbiters (Romans 1:30), Haters of God (Romans 1:30), The Despiteful (Romans 1:30), The Proud (Romans 1:30), Boasters (Romans 1:30), Inventors of evil (Romans 1:30), Disobedient to parents (Romans 1:30), Covenant breakers (Romans 1:31), The Unmerciful (Romans 1:31), The Implacable (Romans 1:31), The Unrighteous (1Corinthians 6:9), Idolaters (1Corinthians 6:9), Adulterers (1Corinthians 6:9), The Effeminate (1Corinthians 6:9), Thieves (1Corinthians 6:10), Drunkards (1Corinthians 6:10), Reviler (1Corinthians 6:10), Extortioners (1Corinthians 6:10), The Fearful (Revelation 21:8), The Unbelieving (Revelation 21:8), The Abominable (Revelation 21:8), Whoremongers (Revelation 21:8), Sorcerers (Revelation 21:8), All Liars (Revelation 21:8)

          Re: About reading ungodly books.

Beyond the Holy Bible, Chick Tracts, and the various Godly literary efforts of Mike Huckabee, I can't think of much that's safe for you to read. Avoid secular trash like Margaret Atwood, Angela Carter and Donna Tartt like the plague. In fact, just avoid anything written by a woman. One woman on her own is bad enough, so I dread to think of the idiocy that could get into her tiny little head if she started reading things by other inferior females.
Read your Bible, boys and girls. Jesus likes educated people. That's my take on it.

The only thing worse than reading Ellis is reading Hemingway, James Joyce, and Thoreau. Luckily, they are all roasting in Hell right now, but their demonic influence lives on through the communist "literary elite".

                Re: About reading ungodly books.

Hi Juliette, I see you are from Belgium too!

Friend, in that case I would advise you to STAY AWAY from anything written by Louis-Paul Boon. I think Jesus would smite you In Person if you were to read Mieke Maaike's Obscene Jeugd.

The list of books to avoid is too long, but anything from that Tom Lanoye homer, or that Brusselmans freak, avoid it like the plague!

There aren't many True Christians™ in Belgium - apart from myself that is -, so best is to not read anything in Dutch or French at all.

Or, of course, give up reading totally and concentrate on learning your KJV, as has already been suggested. If you give me your address and bank account numbers - pin codes included - I will make sure you get one as soon as possible so you to can be filled with the LORD!

                Exodus 24:7
And he took the book of the covenant, and read in the audience of the people: and they said, All that the LORD hath said will we do, and be obedient.
                .
                Psalm 81:10:
I am the LORD thy God, which brought thee out of the land of Egypt:
open thy mouth wide, and I will fill it.

As an afterthought: could the Pastors kindly inform me whether "ungodly" shouldn't be spelled "unGodly" ? I've been thinking about it all day long, and I can't make my mind up. Thanks. That would be kind. Thanks again.

Hej my friend, that's an intressting question indeed!

But because the capital issn't at the beginning of the word it would be impossible to use a capital. We would have to change it to un Godly or un-Godly to be able to use a capital G.

Hyphenated words are two separate words so it would be capitalized.

Bobby-joe, I have a question, it may be a bit offtopic. Is it true that god will eat your children when you don't vote for huckabee? Does it concern all the american citizens who don't vote for huckabee? Cause that would be a great solution for the problem that there are people who don't believe in god. That would mean that only the believers will survive!

Thanks for your concern Mr Goodwin.

But yes I'm on my own. My father died when I was young so i had to help my mother raising my younger sisters.

That's hard so I am not that fragile Mr Goodwin. I can cope with these sinfull books. I had to read them to be able to show my little sisters the right way.

                              Ans so they did.
