I DO NOT condone the use of marijuana for getting high. I have never used it and I never will. However if a chemical in the plant can fight cancer I see no harm in using it. If you have a reason why this would be against God's will then I would genuinely like to know why. I do not know of a part of the Bible that prohibits cannabis use, but I do not know every single Bible verse so if you have useful information please submit it so that people who do smoke pot can be shown solid evidence against their ways.

Oh yes you have found out that I am a Christian who support medicinal marijuana. I have been feeling unsure lately if this goes against my Christian beliefs, and I simply wanted to know for sure if I was going against the Lord. If the answer is the Bible does not say it is wrong then I guess I have my answer that medical marijuana is fine. I do want to help cancer patients, that's not a lie. I pray for the sick, but I also do not shun them for getting Western Medicine when they are sick. You do not support Christian discussion you label me as a "druggie" and call me a liar. According to secular law in the state of California, medicinal marijuana is perfectly legal. So, are they subject to the same ridicule and persecution as states without such laws. Also, what about foreign law? The Netherlands has a completely legal stance on all forms of cannabis. The primary flaw in your response is that secular law is not universal, it is ever-changing and varies so widely that (according to you) one person could be sinning while another person is completely in the right committing the exact same act.

Those laws do not trump federal law which makes those drugs illegal. The DEA will still come and arrest you. In fact, the DoF has connections with the DEA and these chats will be forwarded to them as evidence. Time to get rid of those plants, you dope dealer.

Because CBD occurs in only very small quantities in the cannabis plant, the researchers do not recommend smoking marijuana as a cancer treatment. To be effective, CBD will either have to be artificially synthesized or extracted and concentrated.

You need to pay attention to what you are reading.

Everybody knows that smoking is carcinogenic, regardless of the type of smoke. It's bad. Don't do it.

No where in any of my posts did I condone smoking cannabis. I was simply stating that the plant itself has many medicinal qualities that many people here have refuted numerous times. I'm not a supporter of people looking to get high, but at the same time I'm against people that take the other extreme and refute all aspects of the plant.

I agree that inhaling burning plant matter of any kind is bad, you are absolutely right about that; however I believe that because of it's abusive potential, it has been over looked as a resource that could save lives. Sadly, there really isn't a "right" answer in this argument, either way someone is going to get the short end of the stick.... either the plant becomes usable for medicine and people begin abusing it, or it remains illegal and we lose a useful medicine. it's a sad state of affairs when people loose sight of what's important and abuse the privileges they are given. That is the true problem with cannabis, as well as alcohol, nicotine, caffeine, vicodin (and other pain killers), and even paint, glue, and other inhalants that people abuse, is that they are use in a manner not intended with their creation - it isn't cannabis that is evil, it's the people who abuse it.

There's no need to legalize marijuana use for that. THC is already available in pill form (Maranol), and has been for years.

Federal law does not recognize legal medical marijuana. Federal law trumps state law, and they can be charged with Federal crimes.

The recent uproar over Michael Phelps, an eight-time American Gold Medalist, "posing" with a "marijuana pipe" at a University of South Carolina fraternity party, makes some wonder whether the sports media (myself included) that proclaimed Phelps an American hero this past summer at the Beijing Olympics hasn't gone up in smoke themselves.

Image what a party that must have been: You're playing a little beer pong, smoking a little weed, and hitting on a few college coeds. So far, it sounds like typical run-of-the-mill college party until...in walks Michael Phelps, who at 23 years old already has more gold medals than any other athlete in Olympic history, just looking to have a good ol' time.

Still, the media finds fault with Phelps, a man who served as its darling just six months ago, for simply experimenting with marijuana. How ungrateful is NBC, who admittedly has Phelps to thank for the huge ratings bump they witnessed every time they broadcast his swimming competitions.

Let's put this in context for a second: Phelps is a role model for millions of children around the world and he shouldn't have been smoking weed from a bong, especially in a public setting. But is he any worse than President Clinton who proclaimed "he didn't inhale"?
It's common knowledge that smoking weed is illegal in the United States, but perhaps Phelps was simply posing with paraphernalia and never actually inhaled. Props to Phelps for apologizing while subtly acknowledging that it was no big deal.

As a result of this photo, Michael Phelps lost endorsement deals with Kellogg's Company.
Fortunately, for Phelps, he will not face any changes related to this case and still has plenty of other endorsement deals to fall back on. Regardless of your stance on the legality of marijuana or whether you believe Phelps inhaled, his youthful actions and poor decision-making only proves that he's human; like everyone else, he makes mistakes.
His biggest mistake was letting someone snap that photo. Remember this isn't the first time Phelps has had a run-in with the law. Back in 2004, he pleaded guilty to a DUI charge, which he chalked up to his immaturity.

Whether he's a dumb jock or professional stoner, Phelps is a cinch to win the 420 freestyle once he returns to action after serving a three-month suspension.
Maybe he should embrace his new pot-head image and appear on the cover of High Times. Phelps may be best thing to happen to weed since hydroponics.

San Francisco Food Bank officials say they're thrilled about a recent donation by Kellogg Co. of thousands of boxes of breakfast cereal.

And they're intrigued to note the boxes have Olympic athlete Michael Phelps' face on the front.

Kellogg declined to renew Phelps' contract after he was photographed with a pot pipe.

Food bank executive director Paul Ash says he doesn't know specifically why the cereal was donated. Kellogg officials responded to questions Wednesday with an e-mail saying the company routinely donates food that is nearing the end of its shelf life but still good.

Either way, Ash is glad to have the items, which he says can be hard to come by.

"It's a huge convenience food," he said.
