  • Pray For June Cleaver!

    Brothers and Sisters,

With a heavy heart and a tear in my eye, I announce that one of the most Godly women to ever grace this planet is now with our Heavenly Father.

Mrs. Cleaver (also known as Barbara Billingsley in her lesser role as a real life woman) passed this morning at 94. God bless her perserverance in this fallen world!

One of only a handful of television programs of any value to the Christian audience, "Leave It To Beaver" will always remain a favorite in the Porter home. I purchased a Tivo gadget primarily to record this show, Lawrence Welk and The 700 Club.

A True Christian™ woman that devoted herself to Jesus, her husband and children. Few women have ever had her ability to maintain her appearance for her family while scrubbing floors in heels and pearls. And praise Jesus for her knowing her place. Whenever the boys were acting up, she correctly sought Ward's advice first and, after prayer, disciplined the rascals appropriately.

Join me in prayer that Jesus offers her the special place in His Kingdom that she so meritoriously deserves!

    In Christ!
Matthew 19:14 "But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven."

    Re: Pray For June Cleaver!

June Cleaver was my former husband's ideal.

Once, around 1993 or so, trying to be funny, I greeted him at the door while I was wearing a vintage 1950's housedress and my pearls. (I don't recall if I had any heels.)

He noted my appearance and said, "You look nice."

At the time, I found myself wondering if I should have held up a large, handlettered sign that read, "THIS IS A JOKE."

Now, of course, I wish that I could have suppressed my wicked sense of "humor" and truly be the woman that my husband deserved.

Some other woman has become the June Cleaver to my Ward.

At least I came to my senses before meeting an untimely end and burning in hell. Praise Jesus, I now understand True Christianity as I never understood it before.

    Regrettfully Yours,

    Handmaiden
His left hand should be under my head, and his right hand should embrace me.

I remember being a young boy and getting my first 'urges' watching 'Leave it to Beaver'. I have to admit, I wanted to "Leave it to June".
Isaiah 45:7 I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things.
Amos 3:6 Shall a trumpet be blown in the city, and the people not be afraid? shall there be evil in a city, and the LORD hath not done it?
Numbers 21:6 And the LORD sent fiery serpents among the people, and they bit the people; and much people of Israel died.
Matthew 10:34 Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.
Matthew 10:35 For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.
Matthew 10:36 And a man's foes shall be they of his own household.

        Bless you Brother James!

I know all too well how you felt. I was so young I didn't know the mechanics of "that stuff", but knew that I wanted to leave June with something as well.

I thank Christ now for His forgiveness in what were wicked thoughts. She was a woman of Christ and an exceptional role model for the True Christian™ lady.

I still cannot believe that she is gone.

          Gosh Brother,

This is certainly bad news. I for one only started to like pearl necklaces after seeing June's love of adorning them. Ward I am sure blew a huge wad over her double strands. They are not cheap!!

          Oh I digress.

Here is a picture of her with "The Beaver" so at the very least we have a constant reminder of just how a Good Christian Gal and mother should be.

and one of her, in the kitchen where she belonged.

I for one look forward to meeting her in Heaven one day and perhaps swapping pie recipes.

She was certainly a great woman.

          Down here my sins forgiven,

I'm not so sure about this, Brothers and Sisters.

This supposedly Godly woman was fluent in "Jive", later known as "Ebonics" or "Niglish".

            Bible boring? Nonsense!

I thought the dialogue was a bit risque at times and the writers were definitely pushing the limits of what they could say on television in the 1950's.

I think she gave a generation of men an ideal of what a True Christian woman could be. As for the Ebonics, well it's just another language, and if I remember correctly she properly rebuked them in their own language.
PROOF: Atheists are too stupid to understand the Bible!

Proverbs 13:24(KJV): "He that spareth his rod hateth his son: but he that loveth him chasteneth him betimes."

I have only seen a few episodes of Leave it to Beaver. I must admit she did love her little Beaver and would always do things to make Beaver happy.
Genesis 1:1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth
Proverbs 19:25 Smite a scorner, and the simple will beware: and reprove one that hath understanding, and he will understand knowledge.
Ezekiel 16:14 And thy renown went forth among the heathen for thy beauty: for it was perfect through my comeliness, which I had put upon thee, saith the Lord GOD.
Proverbs 6:25 Lust not after her beauty in thine heart; neither let her take thee with her eyelids.
Genesis 24:16 And the damsel was very fair to look upon, a virgin, neither had any man known her: and she went down to the well, and filled her pitcher, and came up.
Song of Solomon 1:15 Behold, thou art fair, my love; behold, thou art fair; thou hast doves' eyes.

As a small child, I wanted to give June a pearl necklace. I prayed feverishly every night, and often upon waking every day to have the pearls for June.

Speaking of wad blowing, wasn't the actor that played Ward a flaming homer ?

Or maybe that was Mike Brady.

28 Then I will walk contrary unto you also in fury; and I, even I, will chastise you seven times for your sins.
29 And ye shall eat the flesh of your sons, and the flesh of your daughters shall ye eat.

I'm so glad that this was posted, young people these days never had the chance of watching the older 60's shows that taught respect to elders, and respect for the community, I will really miss her, what a wonderful human she was, just like June Lockheart with the Lasie show and Lost In Space, great learning tools.

God was particularly mad at television that year, I remember. He smote many of the families leaving parents widowed.

And He certainly was displeased with the folks on Gilligan's Island. How many times did He thwart their escape plans? And for years, everyone except the upstanding Mr. and Mrs. Howe continued to live in unmarried sin. It really was a depraved program.
