Tried to prevent it? You think that God "tries" to do things, and then fails, perhaps bungling the job in an amusing fashion reminiscent of an early slapstick movie? Friend, God is all-powerful. When He wants to do something, He does it. When He wrote:
2 Chronicles 15:13 That whosoever would not seek the LORD God of Israel should be put to death, whether small or great, whether man or woman.

Well! There be a simple explanation for this dreadful girl! She must never have had the chance to have any kitties. Truly, an owner of many kitties, (Christian kitties and not the EVIL DEMON KITTIES those dreadful witches have brainwashed and turned into demon familiars) could never be so wicked!

But she does sound like a witch, and so it sounds like there MIGHT be evil demon familiar kitties..maybe those kitties could be baptized and saved and sent home to Jesus!

You are most right, Sister Thumper, and so are you, Pastor sir. That hellthing girl pretends to care about kitties but she probably skins hers alive while dancing around a bonfire praying to Lucifer. Dreadful heathens should NOT be allowed to have kitties.
And if they do, those kitties should be baptised and if they are beyond saving they should be sent home to Jesus. Jesus wouldn't want a kitty to live that was an unsaveable witchcraft kitty no he would not.

We don't eat cats because they are pumped full of crap by the vet. But we recognize that cats are food items like seals, owls and whatnot and we could eat them if necessary. The humane society is a prime resource for people who can't afford free-range turkey.
