Hey all, just wondering what everyones personal gun favourites are, Im not sure yet though im thinking of getting a selection of customized guns for myself including a revolver with a silencer and a few auto rifles.

A revolver with a silencer? Everyone knows that silencers for revolvers are the most stupid invention ever made. (Due to the fact they doesn't work.)

No, they don't. About the only thing you can silence effectively is a blowback action with subsonic ammunition. MP5s are nice and quiet in 9mm and .22 shorts will work. You can also silence .45 autos and PPKs in 9mm Kurz. Actually there are hundreds of silenceable firearms, but none of mine are. By the time the sound gets there, the target should be blown away.

I used to prefer a good old Garand for most everything but surplus military ammo is getting scarce so I had to add a National Match M1A to the mix. It shoots 1 MOA at 200 yards.....but then, so does my .223 Ruger Ranch rifle...with some modifications.

The first thing you will have to do is figure out how to close the space between the cylinder and the forcing cone. You see, with a revolver (or 'wheel gun') The bullet has to pass through an air gap before it gets into the barrel. That same air gap lets out (1) unburned powder and (2) noise. I suppose you could carry around a bunch of foam pillows sewn together like a giant mitten and fire through that, but some noise is still going to get out.

An excellent suppressor is the body or brain cavity. Israeli hit squads use a small .22 auto pressed against the back of the person's head. Very effective.

Only Jesus could make a working silencer for a revolver.
You'd know that if you'd actually knew anything about them.

It is great to finally meet someone whose knowledge of gun handling seems to match my own.

As for silenced firearms.. If you're thinking about getting one, then let me recommend you a CZ-75 Automatic with lengthened barrel.
It is pretty quiet when silenced, reliable, and has a high rate of fire.
Very good for pre-strike self-defense.

Brother, I switched from M1911A1 Colts to Glock .40s a few years ago. This says it is quiet, but not with my .40 loads.

Hmm...
This could be due to several reasons, but the one I think is most likely is that the silencer isn't truly airtight.
Most good silencers are fitted directly on the barrel (which should be as long as possible.).. Yet this one isn't.

But it could also be other reasons, do you use custom, or in any other way modified bullets?

The small size of the 23 could be another reason.
You could try switching to a larger version, like the 24.. (If this silencer can be mounted in the 24 however, I don't know.)
The 24 should be the least likely to let any noise escape, due to the fact it is mainly used in competions, and thus tighter and of better quality.

I use my 23 in IPSC and IDPA. Cowboy matches don't interest me and dedicated race guns are not useful the rest of the time.
