We go to the Baptist church and have never been informed we need to have a prayer closet. Jesus hears our prayers no matter where we are. What conference is your church a member of? I don't recall what ours is -- General Conference I think; I just know that we avoid all Baptist churches that are members of the conference that donated $800,000 to build a gay church in Seattle.

I have also never been informed by my church that my husband needs to spank me for my disobedience. If we have disagreements, we talk about them without resorting to violence to solve our difficulties.

You say you are in Iowa. Are you sure your church is not in Kentucky? I have heard that Appalachian men spank their wives, but I have not heard of another society that holds to this barbaric custom! The Bible says spare the rod, spoil the CHILD; not spare the rod, spoil the WIFE!! I am an adult and expect to be treated as such. Therefore, if I want to scream and yell and burn dinner and have a tantrum, that is exactly what I will do. What do you think about them apples?

A prayer closet is a place for personal reflection. Typically soundproof, they allow complete devotion to God without interruption. Google it.

Switching is not violence. I abhor violence. If you think the two are the same, you have a pretty warped view of the world. I can verbally reprimand my wife or children alone or include the switch. While it is true that I would not want my husband to know that I stumbled upon this site in my search for midwest baptist churches, that would not give him the right to spank me. However, in reading these posts, it sounds as though you gentlemen, and I use the term very loosely, don't just spank you wives. Rather, it sounds as though you beat them, and that is a terrible thing. It must not do any good though. I see that this thread is supposed to be for men only, yet I see your wives posting regularly.

A moment ago, some text flashed across my screen saying I have received an infraction. What would that be? Is that like a cyber spanking or something?

I never beat my wife. I correct her mistakes. When I need to blow off some steam, I go dirt bike riding with the kids, perhaps go hunting or fishing. Sometimes, I'll go into the wood shop and build some furniture. Being I have a rig, I'll go on a few day drive and see the beautiful US of A from ten feet up. But to take it out on another human being is just wrong.

And sometimes dinner gets burned. Doesn't mean it's deliberate -- it just happens. Not everyone is a gourmet cook!

A dinner burned by a child is to be expected. By an adult it is careless, wasteful and selfish. Others are depending on that dinner. And by you burning it, it shows you do not care.
