Hello Friends,
I just wanted to write a quick note here to mention how important it is to keep yourself in proper tone for when the time comes to admonish your Sons or wives.
I was recently reminded of the importance of warming up your arms and shoulders, the way a pitcher warms up before stepping out to the mound. He would not throw a 95MPH fastball without limbering up a little, as YOU should not wade right in with an appropriate Rod or Switch without making sure that you do not do yourself an injury!
Here is the method that has worked out pretty well for me, a reasonably shapely man in young middle age.
1. Swing your arm in circles. This gets the blood moving, and frees up any kinks or stiffness in your shoulder.
2. Bend side-to-side and forwards and backwards to loosen up the back. If you really put your back into your beatings, as I do, you don't want to miss this important step!
3. Holding your arm straight out from your side, move your wrists up and down to free up the wrist area. As you well know, the final whistling touch in many beatings comes from good wrist action.
4. Get in three or four low speed practice beatings. Hopefully you have a family pet, elder Godless relative or some other object on which you can start beating, at about half power, until you are fully warmed up.
5. It also can't hurt to try to move your bowels at this stage, so you are not feeling bloated.
That's it! Now, you are fully warmed up and ready to go! You can feel free to apply God's word to your shiftless Son or wife in need of your loving, full Holy Power correction.
Yours in HIS name!
