The Swedish group ABBA was so popular 25 years ago they could not leave their hotel. Now we learn there were subtle atheist messages in "Dancing Queen" and "Moma Mia". The member who wrote their songs was and remains an atheist:

Thank you for that timely reminder, Brother Mayor. I never did trust that group for they thought modifying the LORD's alphabet in such a caddywompus manner would be "fun" and "creative." I think it's a naught but a shown of rebellion. The alphabet was good enough for Jesus to speak in no one in their right mind should think the can improve on it.

The world is already a toxic place where any kind of sane future is newly threatened daily, so why, in a summer heat wave of ugliness and political danger, do we deserve yet another dumpster fire with delusions of grandeur as nauseating and stupid as a sequel to the monumentally inconsequential Mamma Mia!? Call this embarrassing dog’s dinner Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again or just call 911. Either way, it is nearly two hours of relentless, plotless, artless junk.
Considering the tack-on taste a majority of summer movie escapists live with, an inevitable gang of misguided kids will probably welcome more cornball songs by the Swedish pop group ABBA, happy to join a wasted cast of thousands all bumping, jerking, twitching, and jumping up and down like spastic pelicans while pretending to have fun, but the alleged professionals in the cast who actually seem to relish trashing their craft for money look like they just woke up in a bed of red ants.
How can so many accomplished people turn out a microwave musical so bad it makes karaoke look positively adventurous? Let me count the ways.
Ugly bright colors that look like somebody just regurgitated a spoiled banana split? Check.
Absence of anything remotely approximating a story line? Check.
Banal to the bone dialogue? Check. (Christine Baranski actually is forced to say: “Be still, my beating vagina!”)
Direction that looks phoned in from the West Indies in the rain? Check.
Wasted actors who should have stayed in bed but came out to pay their mortgages while enjoying a paid vacation? Check.
Ghastly, offensive songs bordering on the sub-mental that substitute for missing plot, action, character development, tempo and narrative coherence? Double check.
Millions of hors d’oeuvres that look like they were catered by the chef of a Five Napkins Burger in Bosnia? Check, check, check.

Hell's foundations quiver at the shout of praise;
brothers, lift your voices, loud your anthems raise.

It is important to distinguish the self-aggrandisement of sequins glittering under a follow spot from the humility we inherit in Jesus through whom we have been made perfect. There are a number of things God has explained concerning Jesus, so that we will know and cannot plead ignorance. First of all, His mother was a woman.
Galatians 4:4 When the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law.
At this point the unbeliever will point out how immediately after being told that she was going to have a child, Mary went to see her cousin Elisabeth and stayed there for three months. Elisabeth was surprised to discover she was pregnant and wouldn't you know it by the time she returned home Mary was surprised to. But evidently not as surprised as Joseph. You can read about Mary's holiday in Luke 1:5-56.
Secondly, Jesus did not have a physical father. Mary was very clear on this, despite Joseph's reservations. It was OK, though. God had sent the Holy Ghost to make Mary pregnant as confirmed to Joseph and recorded for us in Matthew 1:19-20. How can we inherit perfection through Jesus when He has Holy Ghost parentage but we are conceived in the filth and dirt of sin? God explains the third thing about Jesus this way:
Romans 8:15-18 Ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God. And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together. For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.
Glorification is only possible for perfect beings. God describes this as an inheritance. We are joint-heirs with Christ and suited for glory because of our relationship to God as our Father. Abba. It is not necessary to gyrate about in undersized hot-pants or don groovy jumpsuits.—.although to be honest I'm not sure that pelvis hugging genie trousers tucked inside platform soled boots was ever considered groovy.—.and The Bible describes a standard of decorum conspicuously absent from the disco scene.
Is humility only possible for those who have accepted Christ's suffering on our behalf? The Bible explains that we are suffering with Him and that we have been delivered from the bondage of corruption. And we are encouraged by God to remember our perfection, not the Abba of disco and showing off under mirror balls but Abba of the Fatherhood of God. He reminds us to put our perfection into practice. This is the origin of our humility. What dancing Queen can say that?

I truly hate to be in disagreement, but I have always felt ABBA was one of the most wholesome musical organizations in all of popular music. Think of what they taught as they sing:

I just don't think we should be quick to condemn these sweet folks. As I swayed to "Dancing Queen" in the bar Saturday evening, I was able to find and minister to twelve different men who otherwise would still be drowning in sin's quagmire. Let us, as True Christians(TM), take the uphill road and defeat the devil's attempts rather than letting him win all the time.

Interestingly, I don't recall any one of these sentiments being supported in the Holy Bible with the exception of the sanctity of marriage, which includes but is not limited to one man and one woman. In fact the LORD tells us marriage is between one man and one woman (Genesis 2:24), but also between one man and his wives (Genesis 4:19; 26:34; 31:17; Exodus 21:10; Deuteronomy 21:15; Judges 8:30; 1 Samuel 1:1-2; 1 Chronicles 4:5), one man and his wives and his concubines (Genesis 25:6; 1 Kings 11:2-3; 2 Chronicles 11:21), one man and his wife and her property (Genesis 16:1-4), one man and his brother's widow (Genesis 38:6-10), one man and the woman he rapes (Deuteronomy 22:28-29), one man who is a soldier for the LORD and his prisoners of war (Numbers 31: 1-18; Deuteronomy 21:11-14), one man and the child slave his father purchases at a fair price (Exodus 21:7-11). In Aramaic (very similar to Early American), Abba means "Father" and God is referred to in these terms.
I would refer the faithful to
M'r:14:35: And he went forward a little, and fell on the ground, and prayed that, if it were possible, the hour might pass from him.
M'r:14:36: And he said, Abba, Father, all things are possible unto thee; take away this cup from me: nevertheless not what I will, but what thou wilt.
If the name therefore refers to God and none of the combo have perished in a cataclysm of Biblical proportions, rich with violence and horror, then we should properly conclude that their name is inspired.
On the other hand, their name may be a perfect example of "taking the Lord's Name in vain" - a cheap publicity stunt, shallow and deceptive, to attract the innocent Christian and relieve them of their money.
Some clue may be found on the B side track "Why Did It Have to Be Me?" which is on their album "Arrival". The German edition of this is remarkable for the end of the track on which, just perceivable, is what appears to be Demon voices saying, backwards, in Swedish, "Your Soul is Damned! Satan will anally rape you in the pits of Hell."
But this leaves us no better off - Is this simply a Godly message accurately informing the atheist, Catholic, Jew or Arab, etc., etc, of the fate that awaits them, or is it Satan Himself uttering a promise?
For me, the jury is still out on Abba but I avoid them as I feel that, one way or another, they are not, of themselves, salvific.sigpic

I know about what atheists, catholics, Jewishes, Arabs and animists, cannibals, nihilists & The French have in common, but discotheques I've always avoided. On the dance floor from what I've heard at these joints, interested eyebrows raised when suggestions done by (something like) semaphore start popping up do elicit responses rich with violence and horror (depending on who it was that was responding) & certainly towards one another.
disco at a "church" would not be real due to eyebrows being muted or alternatively due to appropriate dress codes, clearly absent from the tinfoil phantasmagoria and where are all the hands?

See how the notes stack up just like the King's money? Such a degree of infiltration requires demonic energy, demons whose existence is confirmed in The Bible and if you don't believe in demons then clearly The Bible is not for you. God disagrees. He already owns any silver and gold up for grabs. Satan is attempting to steal metals away from God! And he doesn't stop there. God does not create evil because He's obsessed with precious metals. That would be ridiculous! It's not a rich man's world, it's God's world and God knows all about evil.
