First of all I don't mind being called unsaved trashed I have been called worse by some of my close friends. But about the game if it is so demonic how did it not possess you members of this forum. I just glad to see someone still plays Oblivion. Myself I have moved on to better things like Fallout 3, another great Bethesda game if you feel like Oblivion just doesn't do it for you anymore check out Fallout 3. I read through some older posts read something about males using female characters are living there transvestite lives in the video game world. So does that mean if you play Tomb Raider or any others with a female lead make you a transvestite.

What I did find most offending was when i read that if you do not go to your baptist church your are going to hell I don't remember reading where Jesus said you must go to Landover Baptist Church. More so than that is what I read about exorcising Homosexual Demons.

Can't you see the menace this video game is? It is perverting our youth. I've noticed a large increase of viewers on this thread, and did you notice something about every person that defends this Satanic garbage? They are atheist/agnostic. What's that say to you about this game? Surely it is not leading children to Christ!

It is indeed frightening that so many people actually play this game. And people wonder why there is so much violence in this world?

Oh, and one more thing before I go...

Doesn't the Baptist religion, thrive on the idea that a child should be allowed to grow to come of age where they can make their own justified decision about what religion, if any, to follow, before they are Baptized?

(Assuming they decide to become another Baptist)

So, on that note, wouldn't it be safe to assume that Baptists are happy to accept others moral judgments, and their decisions on what and how they let things affect their life?

Since, you allow people to CHOOSE how their life is 'run'.

(And I say run, because, if you follow the teachings of the bible, to the letter as I'm sure some of you do, then you're basically letting your beliefs influence your decision making process... therefor it 'runs' part of your life)

And there you have the fundamental reason that I don't subscribe to any religion. I like to allow my choices to be my own.

And I might add, I do that in as much as I like to let others decide their own paths in life. You all want to be Baptists, or Christians, or whatever, that's fine by me. But don't pressure others into your narrow mindedness... and for 'gods sake', to coin the phrase, be accepting of others choices...

"Condemned to hell, to be sure" is not a good way to advertise your willingness to accept others views.

Because not all of us like to believe that living in this lifetime should be spent Auditioning for the next one...

real role plays based on a make-believe story line.

Okay, here's a scenario.
I make a game based on 'god'. (Inverted comas because I'm an agnostic)
I base this game on the Christian Dark Ages.
I make the main character a Christian Knight, who "In Gods Name" smites and burns peoples homes and lands, pillages (STEALS FROM) their villages, and sends the world into a dark, un-prosperous time for 200 years.

All in "The Name of God"

...sound familiar?
Oh wait, the basis of my game is the foundation of REAL HISTORY!
All that actually happened...

So what's the problem here?
Oblivion, if anything, instills good morals on youth that play it.
And, for your information, it's rated MA 15+ for a reason.

And, here's the kicker, It's Made Up!

You fight for the Emperor of the lands, you're fighting the Daedra, or Demons.

You people are so narrow in your thought process when you instantly blam anything that goes against your un-wavering view of Christianity, and another moral groups decision to express their views, and make a game based on their moral decisions in life, that you fail to see the other side of the argument.

You throw words and accusations freely at us for defending Oblivion, and anything else that constitutes our decisions on how we choose to live our lives, saying we're "Evil people" and "Hateful"... I believe I'm far from it, as an example.

I may not believe in god, but I'd say I live a moral and ethical life?
In my opinion at least anyway... but remember, everyones opinion is SUBJECTIVE. You know that word?

But as soon as I say, "I don't believe in god, I believe you're wrong in your beliefs" (Which is simply me stating my opinion) I'm SURE at least five Christians would descend on me, condeming my opinion, telling me I'll Burn in Hell, or the like... I once had a Christian respond to my statement of almost the same sentence as above with some of the most hateful and condemning remarks I've ever heard... But I'm sure it was justified...right?

Allrighty, lets make this perfectly clear before you jump to conclusions.

1. I'm a atheist.
2. No, i don't preach my beliefs, and that has nothing to do with what i do.
3. I'm a gamer.
Now, i just brought this game oblivion, i'm enjoying it as i can follow any path i wish to follow, on one hand i had a male night elf who restored himself using heals, which did a blue aura around my hands and gave me light to kill all the demonic creatures.
Then i allso had the power to kill all the civilians, but that would end up with jail, making me lose all my things and having to get out, and if i didnt go to jail id either die, or get a bounty if i made it out.
And, on the other one, i did quests for the king to save the world from the demonic people from the realm of "Oblivion".
I like freedom ,i like to be able to choose any path i want without someone jabbing down my throat telling me you cant do that.
Now, that's the introduction.
This is the facts.
-Choosing a sex-
1. You say a game that lets you play as male or female is bad, well guess what, the game DOESNT know if your male or female, it lets YOU pick, its up TO THE PLAYER if he wants to be female or male, i mean, if they only let you pick male, would that be unfair to females?
-"Alightment"-
2. Hey guess what, the game doesn't care, maybe you like to be evil, it lets you do that, its called FREEDOM, and that is one thing ALOT of people respect in this world, and guess what, i respect it to, if i want to be evil, so be it, but the main story line is to SAVE the world.

3. Hey guess what, the game isnt real, theres god damn portals in the middle of a cave, i mean, does that seem like a way to preach, since good wins overall, it doesnt seem to be making out evil to be good or bad, its making it out to be fun.
How is it directly harming you if it doesnt mention god, saying hes bad or good? Because well, guess what, it's not real,
Would you be offended if i was too make a game based around a really fun god that controls your computer and you need to stop him?
Would that be preaching a new belief, NO, ITS A GAME.

I like the game, i play it, i be good in some characters, bad in others, i help citizens, collect bounty on characters by killing them because they harmed citizens and did bad, i go to a book store, i cant afford the book, i steal it, it doesnt harm anyone, its a game, and guess what, book keeper sees me, i get a bounty, gaurd comes in and puts me in jail, is that justice or is that making it promoted saying you get away with crimes?
Oh and guess what else,
SUPER NINTENDO HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THIS THREAD,
LEAVE IT OUT OF IT.
Nintendo has given us great games like mario, and zelda, it didnt make Oblivion.

As for the lack of jesus christ in it, its not modelled on our world. And for the shootings and such, alot of people played doom, true classic, yet only 2 out of millions shot up a school, YES THATS GOTTA BE THE REASON! screw environmental factors! lets be narrow minded!
